Meghan Markle commenced her presence at the 2023 Invictus Games with an inspiring address.
Arriving in Düsseldorf, Germany on Tuesday, September 12, Meghan, aged 42, joined Prince Harry for the Family & Friends celebration. Apologizing for her slight lateness, she expressed her gratitude to be present, stating, "It is truly special to be here. Just like many of you, we understand the significance of family, friends, and the remarkable sense of community fostered by Invictus and Fischer House. Therefore, I took some extra time to ensure our little ones were comfortably settled at home."
The duchess mentioned her children Archie, 4, and Lilibet, 2, stating that she had just dropped them off at school before her flight. After recently landing, she expressed her excitement about being able to participate in the Invictus event. Meghan also acknowledged that she had heard the week had started well, causing the crowd to cheer. She then expressed her gratitude towards the Fisher House Foundation, an organization that offers assistance to military and veteran families when their loved ones are hospitalized. Currently, there are almost 100 Fisher Houses in operation within the U.S., U.K., and Germany.
“I had the opportunity to personally visit one of their houses in Los Angeles just a few weeks back and I was truly touched by the incredible work they do,” stated Meghan. “Like you and my husband, who create the Invictus Games, they understand the paramount significance of rehabilitation, not only for individuals but for the entire family. Being a part of the Invictus family with all of you fills me with great pride.”

The event aimed to honor the significant role played by our loved ones in the recovery of our community members.
In 2014, Harry co-founded the Invictus Games, an esteemed international sports competition designed for injured, sick, and wounded service people and veterans. Three years later, Harry and Meghan attended the event in Toronto, marking their first public appearance as a couple. Following their engagement announcement in November 2017, the couple exchanged vows in May the following year.

The competition in Germany officially began on Saturday, September 9, with a surprise visit from Harry to the event volunteers. Before that, he attended the 2023 WellChild Awards in London a few days earlier. His brief trip across the pond also included a visit to St George's Chapel on Friday, September 8, where he paid his respects to the late Queen Elizabeth II on the first anniversary of her death.
According to an exclusive source, Harry felt the need to do this alone while Meghan stayed behind with the children and assisted with last-minute preparations for the Invictus Games.
