Prince Harry and Meghan Markle Fire Back at Outrageous Accusations Amid New York City Car Chase

Prince Harry and Meghan Markle have vehemently denied allegations that their recent car chase was a publicity stunt. In fact, a spokesperson for the couple, Ashley Hansen, pointed out the insensitivity of such accusations given the Duke's family history. These claims are simply unfounded and unacceptable.

After being chased by “a ring of highly aggressive” photographers for over two hours, Prince Harry and Meghan Markle, along with Meghan’s mother Doria Ragland, narrowly avoided multiple collisions with other drivers, pedestrians, and even two NYPD officers. The incident, which occurred after the couple left the 2023 Women of Vision Awards in New York City on May 16, was described by a spokesperson for the couple as “near catastrophic.” In response to the incident, both Harry and Meghan expressed their concern for the safety of themselves and others affected by such reckless behavior.

"It is important to prioritize the safety of individuals, regardless of their public status. The circulation of these images, obtained through invasive methods, promotes a harmful and risky practice for everyone involved." According to an exclusive source, the three individuals involved were extremely frightened during the incident and continue to be disturbed by it.

Chris Sanchez, a member of the security team assigned to Harry and Meghan, shared in an interview with CNN on Wednesday how the situation was extremely chaotic and the potential consequences could have been disastrous.

According to the witness, the situation surrounding Meghan Markle and Prince Harry's departure was extremely disorganized and potentially dangerous. He claims that numerous vehicles, including cars, scooters, and bicycles, were involved, and that the public was put at risk multiple times throughout the ordeal. In fact, he suggests that the situation could have been fatal, as some individuals were even jumping curbs and running red lights. At one point, the couple's limousine was even blocked by people trying to take pictures, before they were eventually able to escape the chaos.

According to the Sussexes' vehicle driver, Sukhcharn Singh, the reports of the passengers being in danger were exaggerated. Singh shared his perspective, stating that he was hailed by a security guard on 67th Street, and Prince Harry and his wife quickly entered his cab. Singh noticed that the couple looked nervous, possibly due to being chased throughout the day. However, he also noted that the security guard was alert and on top of the situation.

In response to the notion that Harry, Meghan, and her mother were in danger, Singh dismissed it as exaggerated. Other celebrities such as Megyn Kelly and Caitlyn Jenner have also expressed doubt about their experience, while Gayle King has defended the couple as cofounders of Archewell.

Following the car chase incident in New York City, Harry's request to hire private police protection in the U.K. was denied by a London judge. Harry and Meghan had moved to California after relinquishing their senior royal roles in 2020. Despite Harry's team claiming in 2022 that he was born with a lifelong security risk as a member of the royal family, the British government argued recently that police officers were meant for the benefit of the public and not to be used as private bodyguards for the wealthy.
