Rebecca Loos appears displeased with the re-emergence of her past involvement with David Beckham.
The docuseries "Beckham" on Netflix takes a retrospective look into the life of the renowned footballer, delving into a long-standing claim of an affair with Loos, who previously served as his personal assistant.
Loos, who is currently a married mother of two residing in Norway, recently discussed Beckham's response to the scandal that occurred nearly two decades ago in an interview with the Daily Mail.
Within the docuseries, both Beckham and his wife Victoria reflect on the emotional distress they endured during that period, which was intensified by media scrutiny. Beckham, especially, recounted the profound impact it had on his wife's well-being.
Loos, in the new interview with the Daily Mail, expressed her understanding of his need to preserve his image while still stating that he can say whatever he wishes. However, she highlighted that his portrayal of himself as the victim is making her appear deceitful, as if she has fabricated these stories. Additionally, she noted that his indirect implication that she is responsible for Victoria's suffering is problematic. CNN has contacted Beckham's representative for their response.
The purported affair occurred following Beckham's transfer to play in Madrid and Loos working for him in Spain. During a 2004 interview with Sky News, Loos alleged that she and the athlete had initially become involved the previous year, after they were captured leaving a nightclub together in photographs.
"In my opinion, the connection between David and me was incredibly intense, and there was discontent because I acted unprofessionally given his marital status," she expressed during the interview in 2004.
Beckham dismissed the accusations of being unfaithful during that period, stating, "To put it plainly, I am in a state of blissful matrimony, blessed with an amazing wife and two exceptional children. The claims made by others hold no power to alter this reality," as reported by the Guardian.
Loos, for her part, has long since moved on.
"Its not like England here, its much less judgmental," she said of living in Norway.
"People here are nonchalant about it. They remain indifferent," she expressed. "The majority of my Norwegian friends say, 'Well, I've been involved with a married man before and I did this...'. It seems like everyone has had their share of experiences."
"The show 'Beckham' is currently available for streaming on Netflix."
