David Beckham has expressed the need for a change in ownership at Manchester United, stating that a potential future role at the club would hold immense significance to him. As a co-owner of Inter Miami and a former player at Old Trafford, Beckham is eager for the prolonged takeover process, initiated when the Glazer family announced their intention to sell in November, to come to a conclusion. Offers from consortiums headed by Sheikh Jassim Bin Hamad Al Thani and Sir Jim Ratcliffe have been considered in the potential purchase of United.

In an interview with The Athletic, he acknowledged that it might be time for the Glazers to step down, emphasizing that it is primarily due to the desire of the fans. He firmly believes that once the fans are lost, particularly at a prestigious club like Manchester United, regaining their support becomes a daunting task.

The Glazers have undeniably accomplished much, and the mere discussion of Manchester United's potential selling price reflects the success they have achieved. However, it is evident that change is necessary. We have all witnessed and acknowledge the need for it, considering the challenges my former club has faced in recent years in contrast to the success we experienced during my tenure and the Sir Alex Ferguson era. Beckham emphasizes that substantial investment is now imperative to elevate the team back to its pinnacle.

Manchester United has been facing challenging times both on and off the field," Beckham expressed. "The arrival of head coach Erik ten Hag has been a refreshing change. He has tackled difficult decisions gracefully and successfully garnered support from the fans.

"As a fan and former player, I am eagerly awaiting the resolution of the takeover situation. A decision needs to be made. It is crucial for the individuals responsible for managing the club to possess a deep passion, involvement, and the ability to make wise choices, recruit talented players, and invest in the growth of the club.

The club requires investment for various aspects such as the training facility, stadium, and on-field improvements. These significant changes are necessary, especially when considering the progress and developments made by clubs like Man City. It is not only about their success in terms of trophies but also their focus on building for the future consistently. The stability offered by Pep Guardiola, whom I greatly admire, contributes to their long-term plans.

"We used to be at the pinnacle of success, winning every competition, attracting the most accomplished players. Fortunately, the magnetic allure of Manchester United, which drew me to the club, still persists. We yearn to regain that glory, and the sooner a decision can be reached, the more favorable it would be."

Beckham has been joyously commemorating Lionel Messi's entry into his MLS club this month, and while his focus remains primarily on Inter Miami, he acknowledged that accepting a role at United in the future would be difficult to resist.

"I have a lot going on here at the moment and my focus has purely been on Miami and everything that goes on in my business," he said.

"At this point, I have not received any offers or opportunities from Manchester United. However, if I were to be involved with the club, it would hold immense significance for me in the future. The outcome remains uncertain, but only time will tell.

I eagerly await the developments that unfold in the coming weeks or months. Ideally, a decision will be made, and if I am fortunate enough to be a part of it, I will enthusiastically contribute. However, if circumstances dictate otherwise, I will support Manchester United as a devoted fan, just like any other supporter – attending matches and cheering for our team."
