David Ayer Reveals Mind-Blowing Secrets Behind Suicide Squad's Mysterious Credits Scene

David Ayer's attempt to clarify Suicide Squad's post-credits scene falls short, leaving fans more perplexed than ever Despite his explanation, the Justice League reference remains utterly bewildering

Summary

Director David Ayer tried to explain the confusing post-credit scene in Suicide Squad but his explanation is unhelpful.

The scene with Bruce Wayne and Waller was filmed as part of the principal photography, not as a reshoot. Ayer argues that Wayne's line was intended to allude to the Justice League, but this explanation lacks coherence.

Suicide Squad director, David Ayer, attempts to shed light on the confusing post-credit scene in the film. However, his explanation proves to be of little assistance. Suicide Squad, a star-studded DC Universe movie, chose to focus on villains rather than heroes. Margot Robbie's Harley Quinn, Will Smith's Deadshot, Jai Courtney's Captain Boomerang, and other criminals unite under Viola Davis' character, Amanda Waller, leading to a grand battle against their first adversary. The movie enjoyed tremendous success, raking in $747 million at the box office, despite facing criticism from both audiences and critics.

One of the major challenges faced by Suicide Squad was the lack of coherence in its post-credit scene. Bruce Wayne, portrayed by Ben Affleck, pledged to gather his allies to hold Waller accountable should she deviate from the right path. This scene caused confusion and blurred the overall understanding of the DC Universe. Several years after the movie's release, David Ayer took to Twitter in an attempt to clear up this matter. See his post below:

Ayer explained that there was no reshoot involved, and Wayne's line only hinted at the Justice League. Unfortunately, this explanation makes little sense for numerous reasons.

Why Suicide Squad's Justice League Reference Still Makes No Sense

David Ayer Reveals Mind-Blowing Secrets Behind Suicide Squad's Mysterious Credits Scene

During the release of Suicide Squad, Batman found himself with very few allies. Ben Affleck reprised the role of Batman, following his appearance in Batman v Superman, but connections with other superheroes were scarce. With Superman still deceased and only a handful of active heroes, Batman faced even more adversity. Adding fuel to the fire, Wonder Woman, when approached for assistance, showed no interest and revealed that she had distanced herself from humanity long before their paths crossed.

Before joining the Justice League, Batman had never encountered the other members - The Flash, Aquaman, and Cyborg. They were merely names in a file, provided directly by Waller. Even in his personal life, Batman had lost his friends, especially Robin, and had not sought out a new partner. With only Alfred for support, Batman was a solitary figure. Despite Ayer's insistence, there were no remaining allies for him to recruit.

Had Batman not experienced the loss of Robin, the post-credit scene in Suicide Squad might have been more comprehensible. Instead, it now appears either perplexing or a deliberate deception on Batman's part. With Ayer clarifying that the reference is to the Justice League, the theory of deception is definitively debunked. In hindsight, the post-credit scene in Suicide Squad lacks any logical coherence.
