While the teaser trailer of the anime series features Harley Quinn and Amanda Waller in outfits reminiscent of their DCEU appearances, the Joker's appearance is noticeably distinct from Jared Leto's portrayal of the character. Furthermore, the absence of the DC Studios logo on the teaser trailer confirms that Suicide Squad Isekai does not fall within the DC Universe canon.
IGN has already provided a more definitive answer regarding Suicide Squad Isekai. The announcement for the anime series was made at Anime Expo 2023, and later confirmed by DC on social media. During the announcement, WIT Studio's CEO, George Wada, encouraged the audience to contact James Gunn, the new creative chief of DC Studios, to watch the upcoming series. It was also teased that Suicide Squad Isekai has no connection to Gunn's plans for DC.
Although Gunn and his co-CEO Peter Safran are focused on planning the future of the new DC Universe for the next ten years, it seems that they have no involvement in the creation of Suicide Squad Isekai. However, it is possible that a future anime series will become part of the DC Universe's canon, which includes movies, TV shows, animation, and video games.
