Christine Brown has no regrets about her separation from husband Kody Brown and her subsequent return to Utah with their youngest daughter Truely. During the October 15 episode of Sister Wives, Christine, aged 51, defended her decision by stating that leaving actually improved Kody's relationship with Truely, who is now 13 years old. "While residing in Flagstaff, Arizona, I strongly believed that relocating to Utah was the best decision for both Truely and myself," she explained. "I knew that by moving Truely away from her father, it would actually be the best way to maintain a healthy relationship between Truely and Kody."
Christine admitted that her viewpoint appeared unusual, acknowledging, "I understand it may sound irrational."
In further defense of her unorthodox strategy, Christine contended that relocating caused Kody and Truely's connection to remain stable. "I intervened in their relationship when it was still positive and relocated it," she explained to the cameras. "Then, whenever we return to town, I simply restore it to its previous state."
Kody, however, held a different perspective on the situation — and he didn't hesitate to express it. "Christine's belief that she's preserving my relationship with Truely by separating her from me is a complete rationalization," he declared in a confessional, dismissing his ex's reasoning as absurd.
Christine Brown visited Flagstaff in the latest episode, reuniting with her old friend and fellow sister wife Janelle Brown. The group went out to celebrate Christine's "ex-anniversary," which marks the day she spiritually married Kody. (Christine and Kody recently announced their split after being together for 25 years.)
"In a confessional, Christine jokingly expressed her support for divorce by saying, 'I'm a big fan of divorce, I'm just saying.' She encouraged people who are contemplating divorce to pursue it, emphasizing that she understands the positive outcome from her personal experience. Christine clarified that she does not possess professional qualifications as a therapist or psychiatrist, but her perspective is based on how it has improved her own life."
"Alongside Truely, Christine and Kody have a son named Paedon, who is 25 years old, and daughters Aspyn, 28, Mykelti, 27, Gwendlyn, 21, and Ysabel, 20. Additionally, Kody is the father of 12 more children from his relationships with Janelle, Meri Brown, and Robyn Brown."
The departure of Christine in season 17 of Sister Wives brought about significant changes to the dynamics of the plural family. Season 18, on the other hand, focuses on the fractured relationship between Kody and Janelle. It is worth mentioning that both Janelle and Meri, aged 52, have separated from Kody since the season was filmed.
Despite the uncertain future of the family, Christine and Janelle have managed to maintain a close friendship. During Christine's recent marriage to David Woolley, Janelle stood out as the sole Sister Wives co-star in attendance.
“I may not be able to give my kids a dad,” Christine teased on Sunday’s episode, “but I can give them Janelle, for goodness sake.”
Sister Wives airs on TLC Sundays at 10 p.m. ET.
