Christina Applegate, aged 52, is excited to share a new project with everyone.

She has teamed up with Jamie-Lynn Sigler for a podcast called “MeSsy,” where they openly discuss their experiences with multiple sclerosis. This marks a significant change for Applegate.

Applegate shared with Robin Roberts on Good Morning America that she has portrayed a character named Christina for four decades. She admitted that she pretended to be Christina because it was easier for her. This moment, she described, is like her coming-out party.

Since she was just 15 years old, Applegate has been a familiar face in pop culture, starting with her role as Kelly Bundy on Married ... With Children. Despite her success on screen, she revealed that she has also been playing a role in real life.

"I've actually been myself all along," she admitted. "I was pretending to be someone else for a while."

She shared that she had been trying to be upbeat and humorous, making sure no one around her felt uneasy.

As she told Roberts, “I don’t care anymore.”

It was a change that cohost Sigler, 42, noticed immediately.

After recording our first episode and listening to it, I immediately called her. I expressed my excitement about people getting to know Christina. Sigler, diagnosed with multiple sclerosis (MS) at 20 years old in 2002, is thrilled that Applegate is opening up and feels proud to support her throughout this journey.

Sigler shared with Roberts that she feels like she is witnessing a truly beautiful chapter in Applegate's life, despite the challenges. She truly believes in this positive outcome.

Applegate disclosed her multiple sclerosis diagnosis in 2021, but she suspects she may have had the condition for about six or seven years without knowing. Interestingly, this period overlaps with her work on the Netflix show, Dead to Me.

"I used to experience my leg buckling during the first season of shooting," she shared. "I thought it was just fatigue, dehydration, or the weather."

Applegate aims to initiate conversations and create a supportive community through the podcast, making sure that listeners feel understood and acknowledged, regardless of whether they are dealing with MS or not.

The first episode of “MeSsy” drops March 19.
