Princess Kate Middleton has been receiving support from her mother, Carole Middleton, during her battle with cancer and treatment.

A source exclusively shared with We that Carole, who is 69 years old, has been staying with Kate to help her recover. Kate, the eldest daughter of Carole and Michael Middleton, has been accompanied by her mother throughout this challenging time. Carole and Michael also have two other children, daughter Pippa and son James. Recently, Kate was seen in a car driven by Carole earlier this month.

Kensington Palace announced on Friday, March 22, that Kate has been diagnosed with cancer. A second insider revealed that her cancer was found by doctors during her abdominal surgery earlier this year.

The day William canceled his plans to attend his godfather, King Constantine of Greece's memorial was when the family found out, according to a second source. Kate has already begun chemotherapy as they continue to process the news.

In a video released on Friday, Kate shared that she is currently in the "early stages" of her treatment.

“My medical team recommended that I start a preventive chemotherapy treatment, and I am currently in the early stages of this process,” she shared. “It was a big surprise for us, and William and I have been handling it privately to protect our young family.”

She added, “I am doing well and improving every day by focusing on my mental, physical, and emotional healing. Having William with me is a great source of comfort, along with the love and support from many of you.”

Kate and Prince William decided to wait until their three children were on Easter break to share her diagnosis with the public. They have chosen not to disclose the specific type of cancer that the princess is battling.

In January, news surfaced about Kate's health struggles after the palace announced that she had undergone abdominal surgery. As a result, she had to cancel her scheduled public appearances to focus on her recovery.

The palace announced that the surgery went well and she will be staying in the hospital for ten to fourteen days before going home to recover. They also mentioned that she will most likely not resume her public duties until after Easter.

After the surgery, Kate recovered at home with William by her side, while he carried on with his usual public engagements.

Kate had not been seen in public since December 2023, causing royal watchers to speculate about her health and location. Her spokesperson refused to give any additional information.

In February, the spokesperson reiterated that Kensington Palace had already outlined the timeline for the princess's recovery and would only share major updates. The spokesperson emphasized that this guidance still applied.

Kate has been seen three times in March, making low-key appearances. In two blurry photos, she was seen riding in a car with Carole and William on different occasions. Later, Kate and William were spotted shopping at a local market in Windsor.

In an attempt to ease worries, Kate shared a new photo with her children on U.K. Mother’s Day on March 10. The picture, reportedly taken by William earlier this year, was later questioned for possible editing. Kate has now confirmed using editing software for the image.
