Actor Chris Evans, known for his role as Captain America, addressed the rumor that Marvel may be planning to reunite the original Avengers cast for a new film to breathe new life into the MCU. During an interview on The View, Evans stated that he has not been approached about this possibility. He expressed surprise at the recurring reports of a potential reunion, emphasizing that no one has spoken to him about it.
If Evans were asked to reprise his role as Captain America, his feelings about it are uncertain. He stated, "I would never say never, but I am very protective. It's a very precious role to me, so it would have to be just right." So, while not ruling it out completely, it doesn't sound very likely.
Chris Evans first portrayed Captain America in the original 2011 film, and went on to reprise the role in its sequels as well as the Avengers movies. The upcoming Captain America film, Brave New World, will showcase Anthony Mackie as Captain America.
According to Variety, Marvel is reportedly exploring the possibility of bringing back Robert Downey Jr. and Scarlett Johansson to reprise their roles as Iron Man and Black Widow, respectively. This would involve reuniting the entire team, including Evans as Captain America. However, Marvel has not yet confirmed these plans and nothing has been made official.
Prior to this, Kevin Feige, the head of Marvel Studios, addressed the report by stating, "I haven't even seen that; is that a new rumor?" In the meantime, Johansson expressed that it would require a miracle for it to come to fruition.
Currently, the only Marvel movie slated for release in 2024 that fans can anticipate is Deadpool 3.
