Busy Philipps Radiates Joy with Daughter Birdie at ‘Mean Girls’ Premiere Following Teen's Seizure Recovery

Busy Philipps and her daughter Birdie appeared radiant and joyful at the Mean Girls premiere, just one month after Birdie's recent seizure. Philipps, 44, and Birdie walked the pink carpet together at the New York City premiere on Monday, January 8, embracing each other and smiling brightly for the cameras.
Philipps, known for her role as Regina George’s mom in the movie version of the Broadway musical, looked stunning in a polka dot dress with a stylish bow at the back. She accessorized with black gloves and a sleek updo. Birdie chose a checkered mini dress and a silver headband for her ensemble.
Philipps co-parents her children, Birdie and Cricket, with her ex-husband Marc Silverstein. In December 2023, Philipps revealed that her oldest daughter had a seizure while attending boarding school in Sweden.
During an episode of her podcast "Busy Philipps is Doing Her Best," she recalled hearing Marc's frantic calls for her, initially annoyed by the interruption.
She continued to recount the events: "I went upstairs but then I heard his voice and I knew something was really wrong. And he just said, ‘It’s Birdie, it’s Birdie. She’s had another seizure. The paramedics are on the phone.’"
Philipps remembered the incident occurring during a FaceTime call, with her daughter emerging from the seizure and entering the "post-aura state" as she observed from a distance. "They were, like, connecting her to equipment," she said, while also expressing, "It was extremely distressing to witness it on a screen, being in a different country across an ocean."
Philipps remarked that Birdie had experienced a seizure during the production of Mean Girls. She eventually travelled to Birdie's bedside in Sweden and posted a photo of them together in the hospital.
In a December 2023 Instagram post, she captioned, "Birdie is doing okay. I'm alright. We'll all be fine. But it has been a difficult time. And a tough year."
Philipps and Silverstein, 52, were married for more than a decade before the Freaks and Geeks alum confirmed their split in May 2022.

"It's been a long time since Marc and I split up, and our kids, families, and friends are aware," she shared on her podcast. "The best way for Marc and I to protect the privacy of our beloved kids was to keep things private from the public."
Philipps shared with We in August 2023 that she is looking forward to discovering what the future holds after her breakup. "I'm focused on savoring every moment with my kids," she revealed.
