Lindsay Lohan Returns to Her Iconic 'Mean Girls' Character in a Fresh Walmart Ad

Lindsay Lohan Returns to Her Iconic 'Mean Girls' Character in a Fresh Walmart Ad

Lindsay Lohan takes a nostalgic trip back to her iconic 'Mean Girls' role in a Walmart commercial, joined by Amanda Seyfried for a star-studded Black Friday ad

The Mean Girls cast has reunited due to a humorous and clever Walmart campaign for Black Friday. The ad showcases Lindsay Lohan, Amanda Seyfried, and Lacey Chabert reprising their roles from the popular 2004 teen comedy film directed by Mark Waters. Additionally, the ad includes other original cast members such as Daniel Franzese and Rajiv Surendra.

The most amusing aspect of the ad is that Chabert's character, Gretchen Wieners, is still attempting to make "fetch" happen. However, instead of Regina George (played by Rachel McAdams), it is now her own daughter who informs her that "fetch" is still not going to become a trend. Despite Cady, Gretchen, and Karen having grown up, the world of teenage girls remains unchanged.

One notable distinction, however, is the absence of pop culture references from the 2000s in this content. Instead, scattered throughout the advertisement are allusions to Walmart's Black Friday sale, which serves as the primary motivation for assembling the Mean Girls cast. Moreover, rather than focusing on academics and sports, the coach notifies the students that those with Walmart Plus access will enjoy a 3-hour early entry to the Black Friday sale. In a recent interview with PEOPLE, Lohan expressed her thoughts on the reunion, stating, "It felt incredibly gratifying to be reunited with everyone after all these years. The experience of catching up with each other was truly special." Other returning cast members echoed similar sentiments, with Chabert adding, "It was an absolute joy to spend the day with Amanda and Lindsay. The opportunity to reminisce and be together again was so much fun."

Is There a ‘Mean Girls’ Movie Releasing?

There is an upcoming Mean Girls movie scheduled for release, but it's important to mention that the original cast members, including Lindsay Lohan, Rachel McAdams, Amanda Seyfried, and Lacey Chabert, will not be part of it. Instead, the movie will have a different cast, led by Angourie Rice as Cady Heron, Auliʻi Cravalho as Janis I'mi'ike, Bebe Wood as Gretchen Weiners, Reneé Rapp as Regina George, and Avantika Vandanapu as Karen Shetty, among others.

This film is a musical comedy adaptation of the stage musical, which itself is based on the 2004 film and Rosalind Wiseman's book Queen Bees and Wannabes. Mean Girls is scheduled for theatrical release in the United States on January 12, 2024, by Paramount Pictures. There haven't been any trailers released for the upcoming adaptation yet. Editor's P/S

As an enthusiastic fan of the movie "Mean Girls," I was thrilled to see the original cast reunite in the recent Walmart commercial for Black Friday. It was a nostalgic trip down memory lane, and it was clear that the actors had a lot of fun filming it.

The ad cleverly incorporated elements from the movie into the modern setting, such as Gretchen Wieners' ongoing attempts to make "fetch" happen. It was also great to see that the cast members have maintained their chemistry, and they were able to bring their characters to life once again. Overall, I thought the ad was a fun and creative way to promote Walmart's Black Friday sale, and it was a treat for fans of the movie.
