The Mean Girls movie musical is set to release on January 12, 2024, marking two decades since its original theatrical debut. This revamped version of Mean Girls will feature a mostly new cast, with Tina Fey returning. Lindsey Lohan and Rachel McAdams will be replaced by Angourie Rice and Reneé Rapp respectively. Additional cast members include Jon Hamm, Jenna Fischer, Ashley Park, Tim Meadows, and Auli’i Cravalho.

Although the trailer provides a glimpse into Cady's struggle to fit in with the Plastics, such as a significant Halloween party that teaches her how to be "properly slutty," it fails to showcase the film's musical moments. While there are brief glimpses of a Mean Girls dance number, the songs themselves have yet to be revealed. The musical aspect of Mean Girls is kept under wraps, leaving the audience in suspense regarding the utilization of these musical outbreaks.

The Mean Girls musical is generating a lot of excitement, even without revealing the soundtrack. One reason to be thrilled is the casting of Park, known for her portrayal of Gretchen Winters in the original Broadway cast, which earned her a Tony nomination for Best Actress in a Featured Role in a Musical. Another notable cast member is Rapp, who showcases her talent through her acting in The Sex Lives of College Girls and her successful singing career. As we get closer to the early 2024 release of the film, there may be more teasers and song reveals to look forward to. Currently touring in the US, the Mean Girls musical will come to a close in May 2024.
