Busy Philipps has explored the world of online dating since her split from Marc Silverstein — and she wasn’t a fan.
Philipps, 44, shared on the Wednesday, January 10, episode of Today With Hoda & Jenna that online dating is not for her. She expressed happiness for those it works for, but clarified it's not her thing. Despite this, she believes it's perfectly fine for friends to assist each other in creating their online dating profiles, emphasizing the importance of having multiple perspectives from people who know you well. Even when she wasn't single, she would help her friends with their profiles.
Philipps has not publicly dated anyone since she announced that she and Silverstein, 52, had parted ways after 14 years of marriage. In a May 2022 episode of her "Busy Philipps Is Doing Her Best" podcast, she revealed, "It’s been a really long time that Marc and I have been separated, and our kids know, our families know, our friends know."
During the episode, Philipps clarified that she and her estranged husband had debated how to share their breakup news since quietly calling it quits in February 2021. "Marc and I talked about it, and when we first separated, we couldn’t even think about putting one of those statements out — it made us sick, both of us, truly ill," she explained. "It’s a journey."
Philipps also mentioned that she and Silverstein have a strong mutual love and beautiful kids together. Their eldest daughter, Birdie, is now 15, and they welcomed daughter Cricket in 2013.

In 2019, Philipps admitted that she had considered divorcing Silverstein due to difficulties in parenting. She shared with Harper's Bazaar, "I thought that if I left, maybe I'd finally get two days off a week." She also revealed that she was "fully out the door" at one point, but they ended up creating their own system together.

Last year, Philipps told We exclusively that she was "excited" for her next life chapter after her breakup with Silverstein, and was enjoying quality time with her girls. "It's been really nice. We've been able to travel a little bit," she shared in August 2023. "I've been supporting [SAG-AFTRA] picket lines and my kids have been relaxing and having a very chill summer."
Philipps and Birdie recently had a mother-daughter night out at the New York City premiere of Mean Girls, where Philipps plays Mrs. George, the mother of Regina George (Reneé Rapp).
