A new promotional video for the highly anticipated BURN THE WITCH anime project was unveiled on Monday, announcing the official broadcast date of BURN THE WITCH #0.8.
Alongside the captivating promo, a fresh key visual was showcased, along with the introduction of the opening theme song and further details on the cast and staff. Mark your calendars, as BURN THE WITCH #0.8 will be available worldwide starting from December 29.
BURN THE WITCH #0.8, the upcoming prequel to the 2020 film produced by Studio Colorido and Team Yamahitsuji, will be directed by Tatsurō Kawano once again. This anime project serves as a prequel to the 2020 film and is based on a special serialization released in August 2020. Returning staff members for BURN THE WITCH #0.8 include Chief Animation Director and Character Designer Natsuki Yamada, Art Director Kunihiko Inaba, Color Designer Miho Tanaka, and Sound Director Keiichiro Mihoshi.
Taku Kishimoto takes over the series scripts from Chika Suzumura, while 3DCG is handled by Peakys, the animation studio responsible for the 3DGI in Urusei Yatsura 2022. Tomoya Nakaza directs the CGI, and EOTA Photography, a unit of Twin Engine led by Hikari Fukuda, serves as the Compositing Director of Photography.
Hiroaki Tsutsumi, the composer of JUJUTSU KAISEN, will take over the music from Keiji Inai. NiL, the artist who performed the ending theme for the 2020 film, will return to sing the theme song "PROVE", which was featured in the promotional preview. The main cast of the 2020 BURN THE WITCH movie will reprise their roles, including Asami Tano as Ninny Spangcole, Yuina Yamada as Noel Niihashi, Shimba Tsuchiya as Balgo Parks, Hiroaki Hirata as Chief, Rie Hikisaka as Osushi-chan, and Subaru Kimura as Balgo's friend Shelby.
Originally released as a one-shot in 2018, BURN THE WITCH later became serialized in 2020, coinciding with the adaptation by Studio Colorido. The serialized version of the manga was shipped in August 2020, and author Tite Kubo has confirmed that he is currently working on a "Season 2" of the BURN THE WITCH manga, although the release date is not yet known.
