In October 2020, the three-part BURN THE WITCH film was released as part of the 20th anniversary celebrations for the BLEACH franchise. This franchise also saw the return of the anime series in the form of BLEACH: Thousand-Year Blood War. The BURN THE WITCH film was streamed by Crunchyroll upon its release. Adapted from a 5-chapter volume of the manga by Tite Kubo, the series was originally published in Shueisha's Weekly Shonen Jump magazine from August to September 2020.
The BURN THE WITCH series is a spin-off of Kubo's BLEACH, taking place in an alternate version of London called Reverse London. In this unique setting, dragons roam freely, posing a threat that only the Witches and Wizards of Wing Bind can handle. Wing Bind serves as the "western branch" of the Soul Society.
Before London was separated from its Reverse counterpart, dragons were responsible for 72% of all deaths. However, these dragons remain invisible to the residents of "Front" London. Ninny Spangcole, the lead singer of the musical group "Cecile Die Twice," is determined to rise in the ranks as a Wing Bind agent alongside her partner, Noel Niihashi. Their mission becomes even more challenging when they're assigned to protect a young man named Balgo Ywain Parks and his Pomeranian, Osushi. To complicate matters further, Ninny's former bandmate, Nancy Baljure, resurfaces, claiming ownership of a dragon of her own.
