Bronny James, the oldest son of LeBron James, has been given the green light to start playing basketball again. According to a spokesperson for the James family, Bronny has been cleared by his doctors and is set to have a final evaluation with USC staff this week. He will then resume practice next week and is expected to return to games shortly after.
The rep stated that the James family is grateful to the amazing medical team, the USC community, and the many friends, family, and fans for their love and support. The family expressed their gratitude with the words "Fight On!"
Bronny, a first-year student at the University of Southern California, experienced cardiac arrest in July during basketball practice. After collapsing, he was diagnosed with a treatable congenital heart defect.
A family representative informed Us in a statement that medical personnel successfully treated Bronny and transported him to the hospital. He is currently in stable condition and has been moved out of the ICU. The James family has requested privacy and respect while they deal with this situation, and they will provide further updates to the media as soon as more information becomes available.
Three days after the incident, the 19-year-old, who is the son of LeBron, 38, and wife Savannah James, as well as the brother of Bryce, 16, and Zhuri, 8, was released from the hospital.

Bronny James received prompt and effective treatment for a sudden cardiac arrest from the USC athletics’ medical staff. According to cardiologist Dr. Merije Chukumerije, who was involved in Bronny’s case, he was brought to Cedars-Sinai Medical Center fully conscious, neurologically intact, and in stable condition. After receiving prompt care from highly-trained professionals, Mr. James has been discharged and is now resting at home. While his medical evaluation will continue, there is optimism for his ongoing recovery, supported by his resilience and the backing of his family and community.

Throughout the fall semester, Bronny missed multiple basketball practices and games as he focused on his recovery. Despite this, his USC coach, Andy Enfield, remained confident that Bronny would make a comeback.
"Fortunately, he's doing great and currently attending classes. We all care for him deeply," Enfield, 54, shared with the Associated Press in August. "I believe everyone is optimistic about Bronny's return to the court. We just need to be patient and approach it one step at a time."
