The gravity of these issues was gravely felt last season when none of the players managed to surpass the mark of nine goals. As a result, Chelsea plummeted to a disappointing 12th place in the Premier League standings, further intensifying their determination to bolster their attacking options.

However, Jackson is not the high-profile signing that many fans were anticipating this summer. Despite being just 22 years old and having earned one cap for Senegal, his recent promotion to Villarreal's first team was only on a full-time basis last season. Additionally, his potential move to Bournemouth in January was thwarted due to a failed medical examination.

It is improbable that Chelsea would have entertained the idea of signing Jackson during the previous transfer window, as he had only managed to score three goals in his initial 18 LaLiga games of the season.
