A recent leak for Genshin Impact provides additional details about an upcoming character, Lyney. During the game's 3.8 update live stream event, a teaser was unveiled for the new major region, Fontaine, which is expected to launch in the coming months.
With the release of each new Genshin Impact region, a plethora of new characters are introduced, many of whom become playable. The previous two updates, which introduced a new central nation, included three new playable characters each. Kamisato Ayaka, Yoimiya, and Sayu joined the roster in the Inazuma update, while Tighnari, Collei, and Dori were introduced with the Sumeru expansion.
According to a recent post on the Genshin Impact Leaks subreddit, more details about a character named Lyney have emerged. Rumored since 2020 and featured in early teasers, Lyney is a magician who works at the Fontaine Opera House alongside his assistant, Lynette. While Lyney may come across as friendly and talkative, he is actually quite cunning and prone to lying. His sister, Lynette, is the only person he truly cares about and her well-being is his utmost priority.
In terms of abilities, recent leaks indicate that Lyney will be a powerful DPS character in the game Genshin Impact, with a damage potential comparable to Tighnari and Ganyu. It is also rumored that he will be a Pyro character who wields a bow as his main weapon.
Lyney is expected to be the first five-star character to join the roster in the upcoming Fontaine region. Speculation suggests that he and his sister, Lynette, may play a crucial role in introducing the Traveler to Fontaine, similar to how Tighnari and Collei did in Sumeru.

Lynette, the sister of Lyney, will most likely be a four-star character, whereas Lyney himself is expected to have a five-star rarity. Lynette is expected to possess an Anemo Vision. Along with these two characters, it is anticipated that another four-star unit will be introduced in the upcoming Genshin Impact version 4.0.
Although the exact release date for Fontaine has not been officially announced by HoYoverse, based on previous patterns, players can anticipate the arrival of the Hydro nation around mid-August. According to the recent Genshin Impact teaser videos, the Fontaine nation will boast numerous lakes and rivers, which aligns with its representation as a Hydro element.
Genshin Impact is available now for PC, PS4, PS5, and mobile devices. A Switch version is in development.
