Bayern Munich persist in negotiations with Tottenham for Harry Kane despite their final bid being rejected Kane seeks resolution before Tottenham's season opener Watch Brentford vs Spurs on Super Sunday, live on Sky Sports

Bayern Munich and Tottenham continue to negotiate, even though Tottenham rejected Bayern's latest and supposedly "final" offer for Harry Kane.

Both sides in the negotiations have not completely withdrawn, according to We News.

According to Sky in Germany, Kane was scheduled to be discussed at a meeting of Bayern Munich's executives on Monday as they deliberate on their pursuit of the Tottenham striker.

Tottenham had received a 'fair and final offer' from the German side, which they were eagerly anticipating a response to. The offer, worth over €100m [£86m], included additional incentives.

Bayern believed that they had made concessions with their offer. During the meeting between club representatives in London, there remained a significant £20m difference in valuation. However, Bayern's offer on Friday narrowed this gap even further.

The Bundesliga champions wanted a prompt reply or they may consider pursuing other options. It is uncertain what their next course of action will be as they evaluate the situation.

Kane, who netted four goals in Sunday's 5-1 friendly victory against Shakhtar Donetsk, desires a resolution regarding his future this week, prior to Tottenham's first Premier League match against Brentford on Sunday August 13th, which will be broadcasted live on We.

The 30-year-old intends to travel to Barcelona for Tuesday's friendly against the Spanish team. However, his plans may change rapidly if there is progress in the negotiations. Kane is keen to have his future resolved due to personal reasons. His wife is expecting their baby in a few weeks, making travel impossible for her.

With Kane's contract expiring next summer, there is a potential risk for Spurs if they choose to retain him beyond the current transfer window. They could risk losing a top-notch goalscorer to a Premier League rival for free. Despite his impressive track record of scoring 30 Premier League goals last season, Spurs had a disappointing campaign and finished eighth, failing to secure European football. Furthermore, they have been trophy-less since 2008.

He has netted a remarkable total of 280 goals in 435 appearances for the club. Remarkably, he scored his first goal for Spurs in December 2011. In the Premier League alone, he has found the back of the net an astonishing 213 times in 320 games. Even more impressively, he is just 48 goals away from surpassing Alan Shearer's record as the highest scorer in Premier League history.

Postecoglou unfazed by 'tough' new beginnings

Spurs manager, Postecoglou, discussed Kane's future with We' Peter Smith on Monday, addressing the potential distraction it may have caused. Despite this, Kane demonstrated his focus and ability by scoring four goals on Sunday. However, the challenge of building a cohesive team and implementing complex tactical systems is heightened when the availability of such a crucial player remains uncertain in the upcoming weeks.

To be honest, my experience at Celtic is no different from my previous club experiences. The initial stages are always challenging, especially considering the fact that we were still recruiting players until the last day of the transfer window, resulting in three losses out of our first six games. I didn't even have a solid team foundation, let alone the absence of a key player. This situation is reminiscent of my time in Japan.

Therefore, I have come to expect such hurdles at the start of a new venture. Every time I take on a different role, I am aware that change is being sought, and with change comes difficulty in the initial stages. In this particular case, Harry's presence is undoubtedly the most significant change.

You simply have to adapt to it. I have become highly disciplined to ensure that I don't solely concentrate on one thing. I refuse to be swayed by what I perceive as the utmost priority.

Our current priority is to establish a strong team, rather than focusing solely on one or two individuals. If we were in the second or third year of this project and the team had already achieved the desired level of performance, with a solid foundation and a talented squad, then perhaps I would dedicate more time and attention to addressing any concerns involving Harry. However, at this moment, I must concentrate on channeling the necessary energy towards our team-building efforts.

Currently, while Harry holds significance within the group, my utmost priority lies in how I impact the group.

I initially planned to inquire about your definition of success for this season. However, I assume that achieving your desired playing style and having the team perform according to your preferences would be among the primary objectives. Nonetheless, does Harry's circumstances influence your pursuit of a specific points tally or position?

I don't view things in that way. Setting goals or targets has never been a part of my life. If I had done so, I probably wouldn't have achieved the unexpected success I have had. Without setting targets or goals, it becomes easier to reach that goal, and then everyone becomes complacent. That's not my style. I believe in being the best team we can be. I have come to realize that success may not always come in the first year, but it certainly has in the second, wherever I have been.

But our supporters have provided a reliable measure of our progress. Their perspective and emotions are crucial indicators. If, by the end of this year, our supporters are satisfied with our performance, then I believe we will have accomplished our objectives. However, it is uncertain what form that success will take, whether it will be reflected in points, trophies, or other factors.

Our primary aim must be to reach the end of the season and ensure that the most significant individuals at our football club, the fans, believe that their team has made strides forward and instilled hope for the future.

Solhekol: Spurs won't dance to Bayern's tune

Spurs have been patient, unwilling to be bound by any arbitrary deadlines set by Bayern Munich. They have taken their time and made it clear that the offer has been turned down.
