Bowen Yang Draws Epic Redwood Tree Parallels Between SNL's Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce

Bowen Yang admitted that even the cast members themselves were surprised by the unexpected appearances of Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce on Saturday Night Live. However, their high-profile presence was hard to overlook once they arrived. During a recent episode of the "Las Culturistas with Matt Rogers and Bowen Yang" podcast on October 18, Yang, who is 32 years old, revealed that he had no prior knowledge of the couple's planned cameo on the season 49 premiere. They had not participated in the dress rehearsal, and Yang only became aware of their presence when he saw them moments before the show started.

Yang described walking outside towards his makeup chair, where he noticed two individuals conversing with two remarkably tall individuals. These towering figures were the tallest people in the world. Yang emphasized the impact of seeing them side by side, stating that it was a truly awe-inspiring moment and likening it to being amidst the grandeur of the Redwood Forest.

His cohost, Matt Rogers, chimed in with a reference to Swift’s Eras Tour: “It might as well have been Evermore staging, the trees were so tall.”

Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce both appeared on the October 14 episode of Saturday Night Live. Swift made a cameo to introduce musical guest Ice Spice, while Kelce participated in a skit that satirized the NFL's coverage of Swift attending Kansas City Chiefs games.

Kelce disclosed in September that he had reached out to Swift after missing the opportunity to meet her during the Eras Tour. He extended an invitation for her to witness his performance at Arrowhead Stadium, which Swift gladly accepted, making her first appearance at a Chiefs game on September 24.

Besides attending three games to see Kelce in action with the Chiefs this season, Swift and Kelce were spotted enjoying two date nights in New York City. Firstly, they were seen together at the Saturday Night Live afterparty, holding hands as they entered and left the event. The following evening, the couple had another intimate date at the Waverly Inn.
