Is it possible to transfer Event Pokemon to Pokemon HOME?

Niantic occasionally organizes in-game events for Pokemon GO, often aligning with holidays such as Christmas or New Year's, as well as anniversaries of the game. These events feature unique Pokemon found in the wild, adorned with accessories or costumes. Known as Event Pokemon, they are stored separately in a dedicated category within your Pokemon Storage.

Event Pokemon in Pokemon GO can be Transferred to the Professor, just like any other Pokemon. When a Pokemon is Transferred, it is essentially released, and players are rewarded with one or two Candies. Since the Pokemon Storage can fill up quickly, it's a good idea to Transfer an Event Pokemon when necessary. However, there are a few things players should consider before making the Transfer.

During special Events, Event Pokemon will appear. To see these events, tap the Binoculars icon and open the Today tab. Here, you can find active events and learn about their impact on gameplay, such as unique encounters or double Candy rewards when Transferred.

To catch an Event Pokemon, simply locate a Pokemon that is dressed in a costume or wearing an accessory on the map, and tap on it to initiate the Encounter. Event Pokemon do not have a different catch rate from regular Pokemon, but players can enhance their chances of success by using a Razz Berry.

During Events, spinning PokeStops or Gyms may assign a Field Research Task labeled with "Event" and offer a Surprise Encounter as the reward. Once the task is completed, submit the Field Research. There is a possibility that the Encounter will feature an Event Pokemon.

Keep in mind that not all Events will include Event Pokemon. For instance, the event called "Adventures Abound" introduced several Scarlet/Violet Pokemon in the game, but it did not feature any special Event Pokemon. To find out if an Event will have unique Pokemon, it is necessary to read the details provided in the Event section (once again, you can find this information under the Today tab in the Tasks Menu).

Event Pokemon can be easily identified by the distinctive pink party hat icon located under the "See More" section in the Search Bar of the Pokemon storage. It's important to note that these special Pokemon are only obtainable for a limited duration and may not necessarily possess an impressive 3-star rating or high Combat Power (CP). In fact, Event Pokemon can even have a modest 0-star rating and relatively low CP.

To transfer an Event Pokemon, simply press and hold on the Pokemon in the Storage Screen and choose the Transfer option. Trainers will receive a warning before proceeding with the transfer.

If trainers possess only one Event Pokemon from a special Event, it is advisable to keep the Pokemon regardless of its CP and Appraisal. Pokemon GO rarely reintroduces Event-exclusive Pokemon, making it a valuable opportunity to obtain them. It is also recommended not to transfer Shiny Event Pokemon, regardless of their Stats.

If players catch multiple Event Pokemon, it is advisable to transfer those with lower Appraisals and CP. For example, a 0-star Event Pikachu with a 38 CP may not be worth keeping. Moreover, transferring Event Pokemon can help free up space in the Pokemon Storage. Additionally, transferring Event Pokemon can also be a method to obtain Candy, as the Candy received from Event Pokemon is identical to the Candy obtained from regular Pokemon.

Can You Transfer Event Pokemon to Pokemon HOME?

Although it would be fun to see an Absol wearing sunglasses or a Pikachu with a tiara in the console games, Pokemon GO currently does not allow players to transfer Event Pokemon. These unique Pokemon are exclusive to GO and will likely remain so until further notice.

However, you do have the option to trade Event Pokemon with a Friend. Keep in mind that the cost of trading an Event Pokemon will depend on your Friend Level and whether your Friend already has that Pokemon registered in their Dex. When trading Shiny Event Pokemon, the cost is significantly higher. If you are Best Friends, you can trade a Shiny Pokemon at a cost of 40,000 Stardust.
