After the successful first season of Blue Eye Samurai, the animated show on Netflix has been renewed for a second season, with the showrunners teasing even more to come. The show, which debuted with eight impressive episodes in November 2023, is not technically classified as anime since it was created by a French animation studio. However, fans still consider Blue Eye Samurai to be in the anime genre due to its similarity in style to other Japanese animated shows and movies.

The stunning animation and gripping tale of revenge captivated the anime community, earning praise from Game of Thrones creator George R.R. Martin. The story follows Mizu, a girl who was abandoned by her father and forced to disguise herself as a boy, harboring deep resentment towards her dad. She always wears yellow-tinted glasses to conceal the true color of her eyes, living anything but a normal childhood.

The origins of Blue Eye Samurai can be traced back to the creative minds of husband-wife team Amber Noizumi and Michael Green. In an interview with CBR, they shared that their daughter, who was also born with blue eyes, served as a significant source of inspiration for them.

When asked about their future plans for the series, the creators mentioned, "We have numerous stories that we are eager to bring to life. While we are not actively working on a Season 2, we are looking forward to the premiere of Season 1 and evaluating its success. We encourage everyone to tune in starting November 3rd, and if all goes well, a Season 2 will be on the horizon."

Michael Green confirmed that Season 2 of Blue Eye Samurai is already planned out and approved, with hopes to continue the series for at least three to four seasons and even a spin-off. The animated series, released on Netflix in 2023, quickly became a favorite among viewers and consistently ranked among the top 10 shows on the platform for several weeks. Within just two weeks of its release, Blue Eye Samurai had already garnered over four million viewers, signaling a promising future for the series.
