Blake Shelton feels at ease with his choice to depart from The Voice following the 23rd season. During the grand opening of Ole Red Las Vegas on April 17, the 47-year-old singer shared his thoughts on what he has missed about the show since his departure a year ago.
He mentioned that he really misses the people he worked with on the show. They had become like a second family to him, from the crew members all the way up to the producers. He spent more time with them than he did with his own family, and he really misses that bond.
Additionally, he made it clear that he doesn't miss the job itself at all.
Shelton's journey on The Voice started when the show first aired in 2011. He was part of the original coaching panel with Christina Aguilera, CeeLo Green, and Adam Levine. Throughout his time on the show, Shelton won as a coach nine times and was the runner-up in 15 other seasons. His latest victory was in season 22.

Shelton shared that he decided to take a break from the singing competition series because he felt it was necessary. He believed that if he wasn't fully invested, it wouldn't be fair to the contestants on his team. Shelton didn't want to just go through the motions, he wanted to be actively fighting for the artists he was mentoring.
He mentioned feeling lost and confused about the current season and the coaches involved, prompting him to realize he needed a break.
However, Shelton is not completely against the possibility of returning. While he doesn't see himself returning as a regular coach, he would be open to making a special appearance alongside the original coaches.
"If the original four coaches were to reunite, I might consider returning for a one-off season," he shared. "It would be enjoyable for me and something I'd be interested in doing."
Even though Shelton no longer appears regularly on the show, he expressed gratitude for his time on The Voice. It was there that he met his wife, Gwen Stefani, who became a coach in season 7.
He said that when you find that special life partner, it feels like finding the missing piece you never knew was missing. You feel like you never want to lose them because there's no going back now. Stefani, who is 54, is the one he was talking about.
The Voice is now airing its 25th season. Coaches John Legend, Reba McEntire, and Chance the Rapper have all returned, with Dan + Shay making their debut as the first-ever coaching duo on the show.
The Voice airs Monday nights at 8 p.m. ET on NBC.
