Billie Eilish gave fans a special preview of her upcoming song, “Lunch,” a sultry track with hints of LGBTQ+ themes and explicit lyrics.

Eilish is gearing up to release her third studio album, Hit Me Hard And Soft, on May 17. During a Do Labs party at Coachella on April 13, Eilish delighted a select group of fans by playing snippets of new songs like “Chihiro,” “L’Amour De Ma Vie,” and the aforementioned “Lunch.”

Some fans on social media were stirred up by the LGBTQ+ themes in "Lunch" by Billie Eilish. The song includes lyrics like, “I could eat that girl for lunch / Yeah, she dances on my tongue / Tastes like she might be the one / And I can never get enough / I could buy you so much stuff / It’s a craving, not a crush.”

In a cover story for Variety in November 2023, Eilish openly discussed her sexuality. She later criticized the publication in December for revealing her personal information on the red carpet.

Eilish expressed gratitude for receiving an award and being put on a red carpet at 11 am instead of discussing more important matters. She shared her thoughts on Instagram, stating, "I like boys and girls, please leave me alone about it. Who cares? Stream 'what was i made for'."

When asked about her previous comments on her sexuality, Eilish clarified that she did not intend for her coming out to be a big announcement. She expressed surprise that people were unaware, saying, "I just don't really believe in it. Why can't we just exist? I've been keeping this to myself for a while, oops."

The original interview with Eilish was released on November 13, 2023. In the interview, she openly talked about feeling torn between her feelings of attraction towards women and her own uncertainties about whether women feel the same way about her.

"I've always found it hard to connect with other girls," she shared. "I have a deep love and admiration for them. I'm genuinely attracted to them, not just physically, but for who they are as individuals."

She shared, "I have strong connections with the women in my life, both friends and family. I am drawn to them physically. At the same time, I feel intimidated by their beauty and presence." She also discussed her gender identity, confessing that she has never truly felt like a woman or felt desirable.

"I have never felt feminine. I often have to reassure myself that I am a pretty girl. While I identify as 'she/her,' I have never truly felt like a girl."

"Lunch" is one of the songs that gives fans a different perspective of Eilish. In an interview with Apple Music on April 12, she mentioned that she was working on a music video for "Lunch," the second track on her upcoming album produced by her brother Finneas O'Connell.

When asked about the album, Eilish shared that she and Finneas approached it as if it was a secret project, not meant to be heard by anyone else. She expressed surprise when playing it for others, feeling like it was something that was not supposed to be shared.
