Billie Eilish shared exciting news on Instagram about her upcoming album, Hit Me Hard and Soft. The album is set to release on May 17th. Eilish expressed her nerves and excitement about the release, stating that she and her brother Finneas are incredibly proud of the album and can't wait for fans to hear it.
Eilish shared the album’s artwork, which showed her fully clothed and barefoot underwater sinking beneath a door. Alongside the image, she also included a message.
After revealing that her album was mastered in February, Eilish started teasing her fans about her new music. She posted a video on Instagram on Sunday, April 7, showing herself falling into water with the caption, “READY?”
Eilish, known for her strong views on sustainability, has decided to release only two vinyl versions of her album. She criticized other musicians in March for releasing numerous vinyl versions with different packaging.
She expressed her frustration to Billboard, saying, "Some of the biggest artists in the world are creating 40 different vinyl packages just to make you buy more. It's wasteful and annoying to see artists prioritize numbers and profits over everything else."

Eilish later clarified on her Instagram Story that she was not referring to Swift in her previous comments. She emphasized the importance of reading her actual statement in the billboard article and explained that she was addressing widespread issues in the music industry.
She also confessed to releasing various versions of her album to encourage fans to buy multiple copies. For example, Eilish released eight different colored vinyl versions of her 2021 album, Happier Than Ever, but she made sure to use environmentally friendly materials.
"When it comes to variants, many artists, including myself, release them," she shared on her Instagram Story. "The climate crisis is happening now, and it's important for all of us to acknowledge our role in the issue and strive to make positive changes. Let's do better, guys!"
