Dolly Parton addressed rumors about Beyoncé recording a cover of "Jolene" for her new country album. "I think she has!" said Parton in an interview with KNOX News on March 8. "I believe she has recorded 'Jolene' and it might be included in her country album. I'm thrilled about it. I adore her! She's a lovely woman and a fantastic singer."

After expressing her initial excitement, Parton mentioned that she believes Beyoncé, who is 42 years old, may have recorded the classic hit that she wrote and recorded back in 1973, the same year she also recorded “I Will Always Love You.”

In simpler terms, fans will need to patiently wait until Beyoncé's upcoming country album, Renaissance Act II, is officially launched on March 29 to confirm this information.

In February, Beyoncé, known for her hit song "Crazy in Love," dropped two new country tracks: "Texas Hold 'Em" and "16 Carriages." These songs skyrocketed up the music charts, making Beyoncé the first Black woman to reach the number one spot on Billboard's Hot Country Songs chart.

Dolly Parton, a legend in the country music industry, is overjoyed by Beyoncé's success.

"A lot of people may not know that Beyoncé is actually a country girl from Texas," Parton mentioned. "I believe we should be where we can make a positive impact, and her song is currently topping all the charts worldwide. It's hard to argue with that kind of success."

However, not every music fan has embraced Beyoncé's foray into the genre. Earlier this year, a country music radio station in Oklahoma City initially refused to play her song "Texas Hold 'Em" in response to listener requests. The station eventually reversed their decision after facing criticism from the public.

General manager Roger Harris stated that initially they were hesitant to play the Rolling Stones on their country station when requested. However, they do play Beyoncé on two of their other stations and admire her as an icon. After discovering Beyoncé's new song, they made an effort to obtain it and have already played it three times on YKC, their country station. Additionally, Beyoncé's music is also played on 105.5, KXFC-FM, and KADA-FM on 99.3.

In response to the backlash, Dolly Parton took to social media to defend Beyoncé's latest music.

I recently saw on Instagram that Beyoncé has released a country album and I couldn't be more excited. Congratulations on your Billboard Hot Country number one single!

Just like Beyoncé, Dolly Parton is no stranger to exploring different music genres. In 2023, the 9 to 5 actress released her first rock album, which topped three Billboard charts.

She recently collaborated with Pitbull on the new single “Powerful Women,” which features samples from her classic hit “9 to 5.” Parton shared that her friendship with Beyoncé began long before the former Destiny’s Child member ventured into country music.

"We’ve been exchanging messages over the years," Parton shared with KNOX News. "She and her mother have always been fans, and I've always been touched by their support. I've always thought she was great."
