Bethenny Frankel shared on her podcast, "Just B with Bethenny Frankel," that she sees her miscarriage as a sign to end her marriage to Jason Hoppy.
Reflecting on the miscarriage, which happened six weeks into her pregnancy, the Real Housewives of New York City alum, 53, opened up during the episode aired on Tuesday, April 16.
Frankel remembered telling Hoppy in a positive manner, "I feel a sense of relief because I believe that this relationship is not healthy or positive." She saw it as the initial step towards addressing the issue.
On the other hand, despite Frankel finding a silver lining in the pregnancy loss, Hoppy felt angry.
“He said to me, ‘You’re a real piece of s–t, you know that?'” she recalled. “He moved out to a hotel downtown for a couple of nights, and it was total relief.”

Frankel married Hoppy in 2010, the same year their daughter Bryn was born. Two years later, the couple separated, and Frankel filed for divorce in January 2013. They had a lengthy court battle that resulted in Frankel receiving an order of protection against Hoppy in 2017. He was charged with harassing and stalking Frankel. The divorce was finalized in January 2021, four years after the order of protection was issued. (Frankel was previously married to Peter Sussman from 1996-1997.)
Frankel shared on a recent podcast that her sex life with Hoppy was terrible. She mentioned that he once likened their bed to a "block of ice" because she did not want to be intimate with him.
She revealed, "I didn't feel like being close to him. I would have to push myself, even feeling sick at times. It was really difficult for me."
Earlier this month, Frankel talked about her long divorce process, which lasted for eight years.
On the April 11 episode of her podcast, she shared, "I feel like I've been through a lot. I have major trust issues and I even have post-traumatic stress disorder. Going through the divorce was really tough and probably the most traumatic experience I'll ever have in my life."
She thought she would never make it through. She couldn't see a way out. It felt overwhelming, like she would be unhappy forever.
Frankel called the long divorce process "mentally and emotionally torturous." She felt completely powerless and tortured during that time.
She claimed to have experienced everything except physical abuse, making her an expert on the topic.
After finalizing her divorce in January 2021, Frankel got engaged to Paul Bernon just one month later in Florida. In a recent podcast, she shared that her divorce trauma has had a significant impact on her relationship with Bernon, who is 46 years old.
“It’s why I have not gotten married again, or I’m not sure if I would ever get married again,” she shared.
