Bethenny Frankel opens up about the major obstacle she faces as a parent to her teenage daughter, Bryn. In the latest edition of We magazine, the 52-year-old former Real Housewives of New York City star reveals, "We're currently in that in-between stage, where they believe they know it all, yet it's our responsibility to shield them from the world and their own actions. Despite the challenges, I absolutely adore being a parent!"
Frankel had a daughter, who is now 13, with her ex-husband Jason Hoppy in May 2010. The couple got married in 2010 but separated two years after their daughter was born. They had a long and contentious custody battle over their daughter, Bryn. In 2020, Frankel was granted full custody of Bryn and finalized her divorce the following year. She then started a new relationship with her current fiancé, Paul Bernon, leaving behind her previous partner, a 52-year-old pharmaceutical sales executive.
Bethenny Frankel and her daughter Bryn Hoppy have always cherished their moments together. Recently, they had an amazing time attending a Taylor Swift concert. The duo had a memorable girls' night out in Philadelphia, where they witnessed the incredible performance of the talented 33-year-old singer. They were so moved by the experience that they even had tickets to see Swift again in Boston. However, after realizing the importance of sharing joy, they selflessly gave up their tickets to another mother-daughter pair who needed them more. This act of kindness exemplifies how Frankel and Bryn make the most of their quality time together, not just during extraordinary events.
"We have a deep appreciation for rituals and cherish the moments we create during each holiday and season," shares the author of Business Is Personal with Us. "Whether it's harvesting vegetables, surfing, wakeboarding, or snowboarding, we engage in various activities as a family."
Frankel expresses admiration as she witnesses Bryn's growth and the discovery of her own passions. While her teenager claims that "dismissal" is her favorite subject, the Skinnygirl founder acknowledges that Bryn also displays an interest in "science, arts, and sports." Frankel proudly mentions Bryn's involvement in lacrosse, highlighting that she even achieved the impressive feat of scoring "three goals in one game."
As Bryn matures and discovers her own sense of self, she does find inspiration in her mother and has even taken an interest in watching some of Frankel's diverse television endeavors, including the Real Housewives franchise. Frankel initially joined the RHONY cast when the show premiered in 2008, but later took a hiatus from the series after three seasons. She made a comeback in 2015 for season 7, but ultimately left the show for good in August 2021.
“[Bryn has] watched some of the Housewives,” Frankel revealed to Us. “I think she finds it entertaining but really hates it for me.”
