After Gerry Turner and Theresa Nist’s divorce, Ben Higgins has some advice for those re-entering the dating scene later in life.
During the May 16 episode of the “Almost Famous” podcast, Ben, 35, emphasized the importance of considering your living situation and established roots when dating as you get older.
For those in their 60s, 70s, or 80s who are venturing back into the dating world, Ben suggests asking yourself if you are open to relocating or starting fresh in a new place.
When talking about Golden Bachelorette Joan Vassos’ upcoming season, Ashley Iaconetti from “Almost Famous” hopes that the producers will consider casting some local guys for the 61-year-old. Ashley, who is 36, mentioned that having grandkids can make someone less willing to relocate.
Gerry, 72, and Theresa, 70, revealed their choice to separate in April, only three months after their wedding was aired on television.
Gerry shared during an interview on Good Morning America that after having several heartfelt conversations with Theresa, they both agreed that it was time to end their marriage.
The same day as the GMA interview, it was revealed that Gerry had filed for the dissolution of their marriage.

Before they separated, it was confirmed that Gerry was staying at his lake house in Indiana, while Theresa was living at her home in New Jersey.
Theresa mentioned during a broadcast in April that they had explored homes in South Carolina, considered New Jersey, and visited many houses, but they never reached a decision.
Ben shared some speculation he heard about an alleged comment Theresa made while visiting Gerry in Indiana. According to Ben, Theresa mentioned developing the beautiful untouched land they saw, envisioning condos, office buildings, and apartments. She also suggested building a resort by a lake surrounded by cornfields. Gerry's response, according to rumors, was, "You don't take land from a farmer." This difference in viewpoints led to them realizing they did not see the world the same way.
