The participants of the reality game show Squid Game: The Challenge have accused Netflix of forcing them to wear "disgusting" tracksuits for the entire duration of the show. After the massive success of Squid Game, Netflix has not only gone ahead with a second season but has also created a reality game show inspired by the popular Korean series.
Similar to the original Squad Game, 456 contestants are vying for a massive $456 million prize. Yet, many have slammed the show's producers, with some even considering legal action due to concerns about safety. In response to inquiries, a participant disclosed that they were required to wear the same tracksuit for the entire duration of the competition.
Squid Game: The Challenge contestant says players wore “nasty” tracksuit
Contestant number 326, also known as Melissa, shared on TikTok that participants had to wear the identical clothing throughout their time on Squid Games: The Challenge.
The contestant revealed, "The only outfits we had were the ones they gave us - a tracksuit and a pair of shoes." Despite having just one outfit, the contestants were able to change their underwear daily from the drawers in the bathrooms. Additionally, they had access to body wash, shampoo, conditioner, lotion, and spray-on deodorant to stay clean.
"The contestant expressed disappointment about having to wear the tracksuits," she said. "They even made us sleep in them."
They pointed out that even during challenges like Dalgona, where they had to sit in the sand, they were still required to return to their dorms wearing the same tracksuit.
The tracksuits were getting pretty gross by the end. Squid Game: The Challenge Batch 1 (Episodes 1-5) is now streaming on Netflix, with Batch 2 (Episodes 6-9) arriving on November 29.

As a Squid Game fan, I was excited to hear about the new reality game show, Squid Game: The Challenge. However, I was disappointed to learn about the contestants' unpleasant experience of being confined in unsanitary tracksuits throughout the entire filming of the show.
It's understandable that the producers wanted to create a sense of authenticity by having the contestants wear the same tracksuits as the characters in the original series. However, it's also important to prioritize the health and well-being of the contestants. Wearing the same tracksuit for an extended period of time, especially in unsanitary conditions, can lead to skin irritation, infections, and other health problems.
The fact that the contestants were only allowed to change their underwear daily is also concerning. This is not enough to maintain proper hygiene, especially when the contestants are engaging in physical challenges and sweating profusely. The producers should have provided the contestants with more frequent opportunities to shower and change their clothes.
Overall, I believe that Netflix and the producers of Squid Game: The Challenge should have done a better job of ensuring the health and safety of the contestants. Requiring them to wear unsanitary tracksuits for the entire duration of the show was a clear oversight that could have had serious consequences.
