Battle Looms in the House of the Dragon Season 2 Sneak Peek

The House of the Dragon Season 2 trailer hints at an impending war, suggesting that the Targaryens are on the verge of irreconcilable conflict

Otto Hightower acknowledges "mistakes were made" following King Viserys' death in the first trailer for House of the Dragon Season 2. He fails to acknowledge the personal benefit, but the new footage for the Game of Thrones prequel suggests that Westeros will not benefit from his actions. All-out Targaryen war is now inevitable in House of the Dragon. Despite being overlooked for the throne herself, Rhaenys Targaryen warns her niece, Rhaenyra (portrayed by Emma D'Arcy), "There is no war so abhorrent to the gods as a war between family, and no war as devastating as one between dragons," says Rhaenys (played by Eve Best).

The second season's debut trailer also showcases numerous dragons on screen, including a confrontation between the colossal creatures on a beach.

HBO recently revealed the initial posters for the upcoming season 2 of House of the Dragon. The show is set to make its return this summer, a release timeframe confirmed by the new trailer. Despite the writers' and actors' strikes over the summer, House of the Dragon continued filming. This was reportedly made possible due to the completion of scripts in advance, and UK actors were unable to join the Hollywood picket line due to UK law.

House of the Dragon Season 2 will feature the return of not only D'Arcy and Best, but also Matt Smith, Olivia Cooke, Rhys Ifans, Steve Toussaint, Fabien Frankel, Ewan Mitchell, Tom Glynn-Carney, Sonoya Mizuno, Harry Collett, Bethany Antonia, and Phoebe Campbell. Additionally, new characters such as Simon Russell Beale as Ser Simon Strong and Freddie Fox as Alicent's brother Ser Gwayne Hightower will join the series.
