In the ninth hotfix for Baldur's Gate 3, players can now change their character's name and hirelings' appearances using the Magic Mirror.
The update also includes several bug fixes to resolve crashes, GPU crashes on PS5 Vulkan, and black screen bugs encountered during split-screen multiplayer. It is anticipated that all previous updates will be incorporated into the Xbox Series X/S port, scheduled for release in 2023.
Larian Studios has announced that the ninth hotfix for Baldur's Gate 3 is now available for download as of Friday. This update comes just three days after the developer implemented one Baldur's Gate 3 cat shaving as part of the game's eighth minor patch. The Belgian studio has been diligently refining its latest RPG since the highly-praised release of Baldur's Gate 3 on August 3. In total, the company has released twelve patches, including three major updates that feature balancing adjustments and even added content.
The latest patch for the game introduces a few new features, such as the option to change the main character's name using the Baldur's Gate 3 Magic Mirror. This mirror can also be used to alter the appearances of hirelings, who can replace members of the main companion cast during combat.
In addition to these features, the October 6 hotfix update for Baldur's Gate 3 made adjustments to the line-of-sight properties of sightless entities, such as traps and items. The patch also includes 15 fixes for various bugs and technical issues that could cause crashes. Additionally, the update resolves a problem with split-screen multiplayer on the PS5, where a black screen would occasionally appear depending on certain dialogue triggers.
The upcoming Baldur's Gate 3 hotfix will bring the game's version number to 4.1.1.3767641. Steam users can expect the update to download automatically, and the PS5 version should also have the same default behavior. If the PlayStation version doesn't update on its own despite being connected to the internet, players should check if the Automatic Updates option is enabled in the Saved Data and Game/App Settings menu.
All previous updates for Baldur's Gate 3 that have been released by Larian will be included in the Xbox Series X/S port from the game's launch. However, the release date for this version of the RPG is still unknown, as it was delayed due to Larian's difficulties in supporting split-screen multiplayer on the Series S.
