Baldur's Gate 3 Unveils Game-Changing Feature Exclusively for Xbox Players!

Larian Studios confirms a significant addition for the upcoming Xbox Series X/S release of Baldur's Gate 3, promising an essential feature

Highlights

Baldur's Gate 3 will have cross-saves between PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox, allowing players to easily switch between platforms.

The release of Baldur's Gate 3 for Xbox has been postponed, although Larian Studios has reassured fans that it will be available before the conclusion of 2023.

With the introduction of the Larian account system, players can now conveniently utilize cross-saves. This feature lets users upload their game progress to the cloud and access it from any platform via online connectivity.

The delayed release of Baldur's Gate 3 for Xbox has been confirmed to include a major feature: cross-saves with both PC and PlayStation 5. Initially, it was uncertain if the game would be available on Xbox platforms. However, Larian has clarified that the Xbox Series X/S support for Baldur's Gate 3 will be introduced by the end of 2023. Despite the delay, Larian Studios will ensure a smooth transition for Baldur's Gate 3 players onto the Xbox platform.

Yesterday, Larian CEO Swen Vincke announced that Baldur's Gate 3 is planned for release on Xbox Series X/S in 2023. He revealed that the Xbox version has been in development for some time but faced a hurdle that delayed its launch alongside the PS5 release. Vincke hinted at a solution found in collaboration with the Xbox team, resulting in the launch of the Xbox Series S version of Baldur's Gate 3 without split-screen co-op.

In addition to announcing the release of Baldur's Gate 3 on Xbox Series X/S in 2023, Larian has also confirmed that players will be able to transfer their game progress between PC and Xbox. This means that fans can begin their Baldur's Gate 3 journey on PC and seamlessly continue on Xbox when the game launches. Furthermore, it has now been confirmed that cross-saves will also be supported between PlayStation 5 and Xbox, offering even more flexibility for players. This feature is particularly significant for the Xbox community who prefer gaming on consoles rather than PCs. So, even if they own a PS5 as well, they can start playing Baldur's Gate 3 on their PS5 and later transfer their progress to Xbox Series X/S when it becomes available.

The implementation of cross-saves in Baldur's Gate 3 is influenced by the Larian account system. This allows players to upload their saves to the cloud and access them on any platform. However, there were concerns regarding technical issues, as the system was offline after the PC launch. These worries may be addressed with the upcoming PS5 release in September, and any remaining problems should be resolved by the Xbox release before the year ends.

Baldur's Gate 3 is out now on PC, launches September 6 on PS5, and arrives in 2023 on Xbox Series X/S.
