Players will come across various obstacles in Baldur's Gate 3, with doors being the most common. However, there are also other blockades such as boards, crates, mirrors, and monsters that impede progress. In most cases, resourceful and persistent gamers can find a way to overcome these obstacles after a brief period of thoughtful consideration.
However, instances like encountering a cracked wall can leave players frustrated as they try shooting at it, casting spells, or seeking alternative routes without any success. Nevertheless, Baldur's Gate 3 does provide a method to bypass this barrier. However, understanding why the solution works requires familiarity with certain classic Dungeons and Dragons rules.
How To Break The Cracked Wall
Select a party member with a high strength score.
Equip a high-damage weapon with bludgeoning damage.
Engage the damaged wall.
In front of the damaged entrance, most objects that are susceptible to harm are generally indifferent to the specific form of damage inflicted upon them. However, this specific wall exhibits a unique resilience against all forms of damage, except for bludgeoning. So, consider swapping your team members and arming them with a formidable mace, preferably a two-handed one, to maximize the impact of the blows.
The cracked wall has a specific damage threshold that needs to be surpassed in order for it to take damage, even when attacked with a blunt object. This is why having a strong party member is beneficial in an ideal party composition. If players are unable to meet this requirement, the cracked wall can still be damaged by non-bludgeoning sources, but it will require a significant amount of damage. Additionally, if this proves to be too difficult, there are alternative methods to access the Underdark. The game provides players with different options to achieve their goals, and breaking through the wall is not the only solution.
Baldur's Gate 3 is available now for PC. The PlayStation 5 version will be available on September 6th, 2023. A version for Xbox Series X/S is still in development.
