Larian Studios has released another hotfix update for Baldur's Gate 3, fixing over 200 bugs and glitches, along with critical technical problems.
In addition, the latest update brings two noteworthy features: a new dice variant and Scratch the dog, who has the ability to sniff out treasure digging spots.
When it comes to the console versions of Baldur's Gate 3, they are expected to remain constantly updated alongside the PC version. Currently, the release of the game's first major update is being delayed in order to prioritize critical hotfixes.
Larian Studios has released another update for Baldur's Gate 3, bringing the game's version number to 4.1.1.3636828. Despite being labeled as Hotfix 3 by the Belgian developer, this is actually the fourth update since the game's release on August 3, which received positive reviews.
The discrepancy in numbering is due to an emergency update required for Baldur's Gate 3. It was discovered that some players' story databases were too small to accommodate all of their choices and interactions. Larian promptly addressed the issue with Hotfix 2.1, implementing incremental improvements.
With that aside, the developer now turns its attention to addressing other issues raised by the players since the game was released. The latest update for Baldur's Gate 3 by the company resolves over 200 bugs and glitches, along with fixing critical technical problems, including a few rare crashes and feature blockers. Larian, in their recent patch notes, expresses gratitude to their fans for the ongoing support they've received through detailed bug reports, enabling the studio to swiftly resolve a wide range of issues.
The latest update primarily focuses on bug fixes, but it also brings two notable additions. The first is the permanent availability of the Blue Behir Dice for all players. To change the color of the D20 dice, players can go to the skill check screen and click the settings icon or press the left thumbstick if using a controller. The second addition is Scratch the dog in Baldur's Gate 3, who now autonomously searches for treasure digging spots after the latest hotfix.
Despite Larian's promise to address the credits controversy in an upcoming update, the issue remains unresolved. The studio has stated that the complete list of credits will only be patched into the game with the release of its first major update. Currently, development of this major update seems to be in the background as the focus is on critical hotfixes.
All patches for Baldur's Gate 3 that the developer has released so far should be incorporated into the PS5 and Xbox Series X/S versions of the game from the initial release. Similar to Larian's previous multi-platform titles, the upcoming console adaptations of Baldur's Gate 3 are expected to consistently stay updated with the PC version. Baldur's Gate 3 is currently accessible on PC and will be released on PS5 on September 6, with an additional release for the Xbox Series X/S currently being developed.
