Baldur's Gate 3 Set for Xbox Release Before Year's End, Stays on Track

Larian Studios CEO Swen Vincke assures fans that Baldur's Gate 3 will release on Xbox by the end of the year, promising to announce the precise date once the game is finalized

According to Larian Studios, the developer of Baldur's Gate 3, the game is expected to be released on Xbox Series X|S by the end of this year. In a recent post by Larian CEO Swen Vincke, it was confirmed that the Xbox version of Baldur's Gate 3 is currently undergoing playtesting and remains on track for its anticipated release. However, an exact release date will only be announced when the studio is confident in the game's completion.

Vincke previously announced that Baldur's Gate 3 would be released on Xbox sometime between September and November with efforts to expedite the process. The RPG game by Larian Studios was launched on PC and PlayStation 5 earlier this year, but the release on Xbox was delayed due to challenges in achieving satisfactory split-screen co-op functionality on Xbox Series S consoles. Although Xbox Series X games typically have consistent core features on Series S as well, Microsoft Gaming CEO Phil Spencer made an exception to ensure the game's release on Xbox. Consequently, the initial release of Baldur's Gate 3 on Xbox Series S will not support split-screen co-op. However, the addition of split-screen co-op support for the Xbox Series S version may be considered in the future.

The Xbox version of Baldur's Gate 3 will feature all the enhancements and updates that the PC and PS5 versions have received thus far. Additionally, only the Series X version will offer split-screen co-op support. Both the Xbox Series X|S consoles will allow players to cross-save between Xbox consoles and PC via Steam.

Recent updates for Baldur's Gate 3 have resolved bugs and performance problems, introduced extended story moments for specific companions, and introduced the option to customize the appearance of player characters and hirelings.

In our review of Baldur's Gate 3 on our website, we highly acclaimed Larian's RPG for its remarkable characters, cooperative mode, and its incomparable level of freedom that empowers players to shape their own destinies unlike any other game.
