Players on Xbox who were banned for recording explicit content in Baldur's Gate 3 should expect to have their bans lifted soon, according to developer Larian Studios. The issue arose recently when a player on Reddit warned others about using the console's capture tools to record scenes involving "naked camp time fun," resulting in a ban of over a year. Larian Studios has acknowledged the situation and expressed their intention to work with Microsoft to resolve the issue, with the studio's director of publishing, Michael Douse, expressing frustration with the situation.
Progress seems to have been made as Douse on X (formerly Twitter) confirmed that bans for recording explicit content in Baldur's Gate 3 are being lifted. Discussions with Microsoft about its policies are ongoing. Meanwhile, the official Larian X account has advised Xbox players to turn off mature content before uploading game clips.
Baldur's Gate 3 was released on Xbox during The Game Awards and won six awards, including Game of the Year. Although the game's launch on Xbox has been mostly smooth, there have been issues with game saves due to a firmware problem. Larian is working on a fix, but in the meantime, they are recommending that players create and link a Larian account with their Xbox profile to enable cross-saves. Larian's servers will automatically upload the last five saves to ensure players don't lose their progress.
Larian's RPG was initially not available on Xbox because the developer couldn't get split-screen co-op to work properly on Xbox Series S consoles. Eventually, the decision was made to release the game on the platform without the feature. Larian hasn't ruled out the possibility of adding couch co-op to the Xbox Series S version in the future, but it is included in the Xbox Series X version of Baldur's Gate 3.
