A Baldur's Gate 3 player has discovered a creative loophole to recruit Minthara without having to play an evil campaign, showcasing the game's freedom of choice.
Many players have voiced their desire for alternative recruitment methods for Minthara, as the current options necessitate engaging in immoral acts.
The proposed alternative entails a intricate process of incapacitating Minthara, transfiguring her into a sheep, and strategically influencing circumstances to ultimately integrate her into the player's camp. However, it is important to note that this alternative may have technical issues and inconsistencies.
A Baldur's Gate 3 player discovers a clever workaround to recruit Minthara into their party, bypassing the need for an evil playthrough. One of the main attractions of Baldur's Gate 3 is the freedom that players have in solving challenges, and some resourceful players, like Matthew Mercer who provides the voice for Minsc, demonstrate alternative methods. For instance, stacking boxes and using the Arrow of Transposition to reach distant areas.
Aside from making decisions and relying on luck-based rolls, Baldur's Gate 3 features a variety of potential companion characters, each with their own backgrounds, personalities, and goals. One such character is Minthara, a Drow Paladin, who is quite popular within the community. However, many players have expressed the desire for changes in how Minthara can be recruited, since the current method involves engaging in evil actions such as raiding camps and killing seemingly innocent NPCs. For most players, the negative aspects outweigh the positive ones. Nonetheless, one creative player seems to have discovered a loophole that allows those who wish to remain on the side of good to still recruit Minthara.
A player named Pao shared a new recruiting method for Minthara in Baldur's Gate 3 on Reddit. The method, translated and reported by ZookeepergameDeep360, involves a detailed plan. It includes knocking Minthara out in Act 1, reaching level 7, and learning Polymorph in Act 2. By turning Minthara into a sheep at the Goblin Camp and using Dominate Beast, players can add her to their party. They must then teleport back to Moonrise Towers and trigger Ketheric's judgement scene with Minthara still in sheep form. The party needs to be split into two groups to save her from jail, resulting in her being welcomed to the camp.
It's important to note that this method is more complex than a simple summary and is not an official way to recruit the Drow Paladin. The author of Baldur's Gate 3 warns that following these steps may cause bugs or glitches, such as "Sheep Minthara" not behaving as expected or events not triggering correctly. Players should save frequently and reload if any issues occur.
Meanwhile, Larian remains dedicated to releasing regular updates. However, given the potential for bugs, it is reasonable to expect that this current recruitment method may eventually be patched. This week, Hot Fix 9 was introduced for Baldur's Gate 3, which includes enhancements to overall user experience, bug resolutions, and additional features for the newly implemented Magic Mirror.
Baldur's Gate 3 is currently accessible on PC and PS5, with an Xbox Series X/S version expected to debut in late 2023.
