In Baldur's Gate 3, there are numerous intricate puzzles that will challenge players to think critically in order to find solutions. Some puzzles may require certain attributes or skills for progression, while others may present more straightforward barriers, such as a massive door that can only be unlocked with a specific key, blocking access to treasure.
However, perhaps the most straightforward puzzle in Baldur's Gate 3 is the Scuffed Rock. Players can observe an Ornate Chest beneath the rock, yet there are no buttons or interactive objects available for assistance. When interacting with the rock, the character simply comments on its immense size. So, how can players retrieve the loot hidden below it?
Moving The Scuffed Rock
Select the Scuffed Rock.
Manually drag the Scufed Rock away with the mouse (PC) or thumbstick (console) out of the way.
Retrieve the treasures from the exquisite chest.
While those who have successfully deactivated the trap on the sarcophagus may be familiar with this procedure, they might find it hard to believe that the same principle can be applied here. Certain objects, such as vases, crates, and mirrors, can be manually shifted within the game. However, players can be pardoned for assuming that the colossal boulder cannot be budged.
Party members should be changed to utilize the strongest individual as not all characters possess enough strength to move the boulder obstacle. It does not require an exceedingly high level of strength, and either Shadowheart or Lae'zel should have ample strength without any additional leveling to relocate the rock.
That pretty much covers it. It is more of a tutorial on object manipulation rather than a puzzle. Take this lesson to heart and make use of it frequently, as there are undoubtedly other hidden secrets waiting to be unveiled by an inquisitive player through moving objects.
Baldur's Gate 3 is currently in Early Access for PC and is set to release on August 3rd, 2023. The game will also be available for PlayStation 5 on September 6th, 2023. An upcoming version for Xbox Series X/S is currently under development.
