He reveals that beneath the city lies a slumbering ancient dragon, whose purpose is to safeguard the city during times of great peril. To access the dragon, the party must first ignite two torches in the Wyrm's Rock Prison section with Lightning damage and then locate a concealed door.

Nevertheless, the challenges are far from over. Additionally, the party must overcome four trials believed to be concocted by Balduran himself, intended to assess the party's virtues. Failing even one of these trials will result in the pathway opening but also summoning enemies in both the test chambers and the central plaza. Successfully conquering these trials can prove somewhat easier, but they contain some of the most intricate puzzles found in Baldur's Gate 3. Here's a guide on how to conquer them.

The Chamber of Justice

Within the Chamber of Justice, players are tasked with determining the fate of a thief based on their actions and motives. To unravel the thief's tale, start by examining the painting located to the left of the entrance and proceed clockwise. However, the final trio of paintings positioned at the center is concealed by an entity known as the Judge.

The Judge symbolizes a corrupted form of justice, and players must find a way to eliminate its presence. Although the Judge is impervious to all types of damage, it possesses the Shroud of Dark Justice condition, likened to a curse. Banishing the Judge can be accomplished by casting the Remove Curse spell upon it. Every Cleric possesses the ability to cast this spell, and other characters can also utilize a scroll to perform the Remove Curse action.

The final step is to select a just penalty from the trio of paintings positioned in the center. In this instance, the representation of justice is depicted in the artwork titled "The Cell." Retrieve the painting, and proceed to position it upon the vacant alcove that stands opposite the three paintings. This action will signal the successful accomplishment of the challenge.

The Chamber of Insight

In the Chamber of Insight, players will encounter three crimson specters. The team must unravel the intentions of each specter regarding the future and eradicate the one harboring the most detrimental ideologies. The room poses a formidable challenge as the tomes penned by each specter manifest into airborne entities, vehemently resisting any attempts to peruse their contents.

To handle this situation without causing damage to the books, it is recommended to switch to turn-based mode and assign a party member to throw each book. Although this action may not seem significant at first, once the round ends, the books will fall to the ground and can be read.

Upon reading each book, players will come across Suelto's espousal of genocide, which is an extremely harmful perspective. To tackle this, simply eliminate the Suelto shade using any spell or weapon. As long as the other two shades are not affected by the attack, the party will successfully overcome this challenge.

The Chamber of Strategy

In order to gain access to this chamber, players are required to demolish a pair of Attuned Crystals. Although the crystals possess durability, they are vulnerable to double the damage inflicted by Bludgeoning weapons.

The participants refer to the board ahead as "Lance," yet the regulations are indistinguishable from those of chess. The objective of this chamber is straightforward - employing the white pieces, achieve checkmate on the black king within two moves. Given the complexity of chess, players are granted three attempts for this particular trial, as opposed to just one. For those seeking a hint, the crucial piece that necessitates movement is the queen.

For gamers seeking the solution, initiate by positioning the queen diagonally towards the corner of the board. Then, proceed to shift the queen four spaces sideways, positioning it adjacent to the black king and aligning it with the white rook. As a result, the black king will disappear, enabling the party to successfully overcome the challenge.

The Chamber of Courage

In contrast to the others, this particular trial incorporates elements of combat. To commence, designate a character to initiate a conversation with the Balduran statue and acquire the torch. The primary objective of this trial entails ensuring that the character in possession of the torch remains standing for the duration of four rounds of combat. Thus, it is imperative to select a character with an ample amount of hit points, such as a Barbarian.

During the initial round, there will be a presence of two water elementals and two air elementals. In the second round, an additional air myrmadon along with a water myrmadon will join the fray. Moving on to the third round, two more myrmadons will be introduced. No further reinforcements will appear in the fourth round. It is crucial to note that both the elementals and myrmadons will consistently prioritize targeting the character who wields the torch. If this character's hit points reach zero or if they are pushed out of the arena, the party will fail the challenge.

To make this battle more manageable, players have the option to utilize the open chasms surrounding the arena. Various spells such as Telekinesis, class abilities like Pushing Attack and Repelling Blast, and actions like Shove can be employed to push the enemies beyond the boundaries. Aside from these tactics, it is vital to ensure that the torch holder remains far away from the edges.

After completing all four trials, the path to the legendary wyrm will be revealed. Players may discover something unexpected within, but the ultimate prize awaiting them is none other than the renowned Helm of Balduran. Mac and PC users can already enjoy Baldur's Gate 3, while those on PS5 can look forward to its release on September 6.
