In Baldur's Gate 3, numerous concealed interactions and events await discovery through specific actions taken by the player, both intentional and unintentional. A noteworthy instance of this occurs when Gale's contingency plan, designed for the event of his demise, is revealed.
Given Gale's vulnerability as a party member in Baldur's Gate 3, it is highly probable that this event might be accidentally triggered, particularly when becoming acquainted with the game's combat mechanics. Following Gale's death, a scene ensues where a summoned specter of Gale guides the player through the process of resurrecting him.
How to Resurrect Gale
Upon Gale's death, players will immediately engage in a dialogue with a spectral incarnation of Gale. If Gale perished during combat, this conversation will only occur after the combat has ceased. The ethereal figure discloses that Gale had foreseen his demise and concealed a Scroll on his person that possesses the power to revive him. To safeguard the scroll from unauthorized access, Gale devised a complex procedure, which he will elucidate to the players.
Once Gale has conveyed the instructions, including the requirement to recite specific phrases in Ignan to a summoned Mephit, he will assess the players' comprehension by administering a quiz. However, failing this quiz incurs no penalty, as the other members of the party will interject with the correct answers in the event of any errors.
After the ghostly Gale finishes explaining the procedure and testing the player, he will vanish. To proceed, players must retrieve the mentioned pouch from Gale's lifeless body and interact with it in their inventory. During the interaction, players should select the appropriate options (as previously instructed by Gale) in order to obtain the scroll. To simplify the process, here are the step-by-step instructions:
To open the pouch, carefully rotate the purple seam in a counter-clockwise direction.
Grab the flute and Position fingers to play individual notes.
Play the notes: D, E, A, D.
Respond to the Mephit's Question with "K’ha’ssji’trach’ash.”
Hand the Letter to the Creature
After the creature breathes fire on the letter, it transforms into a Scroll of Revivify. Players can utilize this item to bring Gale back to life, which will initiate additional dialogue and enable discussions about resurrecting him at the campsite later.
Baldur's Gate 3 is currently accessible for PC and Mac, and will be released for PS5 on September 6th, 2023.
