After just one week since its release showcase, Baldur’s Gate 3 has made impressive sales on Steam and has become one of the top-selling games. This achievement may come as a surprise to many players, considering that Baldur’s Gate 3 has not yet been officially released and is not scheduled to be available on Steam until August 3.
Baldur’s Gate 3, an upcoming RPG developed by Larian Studios, is the latest installment in the Baldur’s Gate franchise. Larian Studios, known for their success with the Divinity series, takes players 120 years into the future after the events of Baldur's Gate 2: Shadows of Amn, the previous main game released by BioWare in 2000. With a plethora of hostile creatures and amiable companions, Baldur’s Gate 3 reintroduces players to this iconic RPG series, offering the exciting opportunity for character romances with some of the game's captivating personalities.
While the full release of Larian Studios' highly anticipated RPG is still a ways off, Baldur's Gate 3 has already proven to be a massive hit on Steam. Ranking as the second top-selling game on the platform, Baldur's Gate 3 continues to generate immense excitement, especially following its recent release showcase, which unveiled a variety of enticing features—including an intriguing and unconventional romantic subplot involving a bear. Currently in its early access phase, Baldur's Gate 3 will officially launch in its entirety on August 3rd.
The anticipation for Baldur's Gate 3 suggests strong sales for Larian Studios, with some games even delaying their release to avoid competition. The new entry in the Baldur's Gate series is expected to capture attention upon its launch and may require 75 to 100 hours to complete the main campaign, with completionists spending even more time to fully experience everything the game has to offer.
Larian Studios has confirmed several exciting features for Baldur's Gate 3, including the addition of two new races, a new subrace, a new class, 22 new subclasses, new companions, and a new origin character. Players who have already played during the early access period will also have access to three difficulty modes and a higher level cap than currently available.
Baldur's Gate 3 comes out on August 3 on PC and September 6 on PS5.
