Warner Bros. has made a decision to change the release date of Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom from its original December 20 date. Despite the usual drama associated with DC films, this change is relatively minor. With less than two months until release, the movie will now hit theaters on December 22, resulting in a standard three-day opening weekend instead of the initially planned five-day launch. This adjustment is believed to allow the film some breathing room from the release of Wonka, a big-budget movie about the origin story of the famous chocolatier from Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, starring Timothée Chalamet. Warner Bros. wants to ensure they don't harm themselves by competing with their own releases. In addition, the musical adaptation of The Color Purple is also set to open on Christmas Day, making this a very busy time for Warner Bros.
Aquaman's success story was truly remarkable. Unlike some of DC's better-known heroes, the character wasn't as widely recognized. Furthermore, its release came shortly after the disappointing Justice League, a film that received harsh criticism and is infamous for its failure at the box office. So when Aquaman made a significant splash, generating $1.148 billion in earnings and earning praise from critics, it undeniably captured everyone's attention. The film, spearheaded by the charismatic Momoa, offered an entertaining and lively experience filled with action. Its charming appeal set it apart from previous DC Extended Universe movies.

What is 'Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom' About?
According to director James Wan, this film delves into the theme of brotherhood. Although the initial movie revolved around the romantic relationship between Jason Momoa's Arthur Curry and Amber Heard's Mera, the upcoming film will shift the focus towards Patrick Wilson's character, Orm.
Wan's motivation for staying involved in the movie project was primarily to observe Arthur's character growth. Initially, Arthur was somewhat aimless, unsure of his life's purpose. Should there be a future Aquaman film, Wan envisions the characters fully embracing their chosen paths and evolving in their respective roles on screen.
