Annemarie Wiley Speaks Out on Transphobia Claims and Political Controversy Following 'RHOBH' Exit

Annemarie Wiley shares her perspective on the transphobia allegations surrounding her husband Marcellus Wiley and the political controversies she has been involved in

Annemarie Wiley spoke out about her husband Marcellus Wiley's alleged transphobic comments and her own controversial political beliefs following her departure from The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills.

During an episode of the "Reality With the King" podcast on Tuesday, April 2, Annemarie, aged 40, addressed the issue. She expressed her happiness in addressing the matter and emphasized that labeling someone as transphobic is hurtful, disgusting, and harmful. Annemarie made it clear that she stands in support of the trans community, trans rights, and women's sports, and firmly stated that no one should be labeled as transphobic.

Annemarie shared Marcellus' view on transgender female athletes competing with cisgender female athletes, stating, "My husband believes in safe spaces for everyone, including in sports."

In February 2023, Marcellus, 49, expressed on Instagram that he supports transgender individuals but has concerns about transgender women competing in sports against biological women.

Annemarie alleged that she was “badgered” and “attacked” over the comments even though she suspected that “around 90 percent” of the cast held similar views.

Annemarie clarified during Tuesday’s episode that she is not friends with political commentator Candace Owens. This comes after her announcement that she will not be returning to RHOBH.

I never auditioned for this show,” Annemarie shared in an Instagram statement on March 21st. The show unexpectedly approached me to join the cast 6 weeks after filming had already begun. Two weeks later, I found myself thrown into filming in the middle of the season.

I felt let down by how I was portrayed on the show. Fans never got to see the real me or even a glimpse of my unique life story. I am a proud Black woman, blessed with a loving and supportive Black husband, and together we raise our four amazing children with love and positivity every day.

She continued by expressing her gratitude to the real fans who saw the true version of herself, beyond what was portrayed. She thanked them for their love and support, and wished all the ladies good luck on the next season. She also extended her thanks to Bravo for the opportunity. As an athlete, she emphasized that challenges only serve to make one stronger and more determined to succeed. She looks forward to new opportunities that embrace positivity, truth, authenticity, and values that truly resonate with her.

Annemarie has been married to Marcellus since 2014, and together they have three children: Marcellus Jr., Aliya Jane, and Alivia Marie. Marcellus is also the father of daughter Morocca Alise from a previous relationship.

Editor's P/S:

Annemarie Wiley's departure from "The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills" has sparked a discussion about transphobia and the portrayal of women on reality television. Her comments on her husband Marcellus Wiley's views on transgender athletes and her own political beliefs have raised questions about the inclusivity and representation of marginalized communities within the entertainment industry.

Annemarie's defense of her husband's beliefs, while understandable as a supportive spouse, highlights the ongoing debate surrounding transgender rights and equality. Her assertion that labeling someone as transphobic is harmful perpetuates the narrative that criticism of views that exclude or discriminate against transgender individuals is inherently malicious. It is important to engage in respectful and informed discussions that acknowledge the experiences and concerns of all parties involved and to challenge harmful rhetoric that reinforces stereotypes and discrimination.
