Anna Paquin considers independent filmmaking to be her "first love" and acknowledges its influence on her career. In an interview with People, she expressed that her introduction to the film industry was through working with individuals who prioritized storytelling with authenticity and honesty.

In A Bit of Light, Paquin plays the role of Ella, a woman struggling with alcoholism who is forced to move back in with her father after losing custody of her young daughters. Being a mother herself, Paquin was able to deeply understand and connect with the challenges and complexities of the parenting experience.

Paquin remarked, "Not everyone's journey into motherhood turns out the way they had hoped or planned. We all have our flaws and imperfections, and Ella, in a way, is repeating certain patterns within her family by suppressing her emotions."

The True Blood alum shared that the show's themes are relatable as people often struggle with obstacles and trauma in their lives.

Paquin and Moyer got married in 2010 after meeting on the set of True Blood. In August 2023, Moyer expressed appreciation for their strong and loving relationship as they celebrated their wedding anniversary.

My wife, who is a talented actress, producer, and all-around awesome person, and I have been married for 13 years! I forgot to mention it on Monday because we were quite busy," he wrote in an Instagram post. "Thank you to everyone who remembered and sent us messages. And to those who didn't remember, no worries, we almost forgot too."
