Analyzing the Implications of RHOM Star Alexia Nepola and Husband Todd's Divorce Proceedings in Florida

After three years of marriage, RHOM's Alexia Nepola's husband Todd Nepola initiated divorce proceedings in April. Gain exclusive insights from a legal expert on how this high-profile divorce case is expected to unfold in Florida.

Alexia Nepola, star of The Real Housewives of Miami, is currently going through a divorce with her third husband, Todd Nepola. What comes next in this situation?

According to attorney Neama Rahmani, in many Hollywood divorces, there is a general assumption that all assets are considered shared and will be divided equally, usually in cases involving residents of California.

In Florida, where Alexia, 56, and Todd, 51, live, they are seen as separate individuals when it comes to their property. This is different from their situation in other states.

In Florida, it is assumed that each spouse owns their own separate property. This means that in case of a divorce, they are entitled to keep what belongs to them personally, as explained by Rahmani.

In the case of Alexia and Todd's divorce, the key factor will be whether the assets were held jointly or separately. This will determine what Alexia will receive and what Todd will be entitled to, according to the lawyer interviewed by Us.

The split is made even more complicated by the fact that Alexia and Todd may not own their property in Florida. On season 6, the couple suddenly moved from a 10,000 square-foot penthouse rental to a 4,000 square foot apartment that costs $45,000 a month.

Rahmani pointed out, "If it's a rental, then obviously the home isn't going to be split or stolen. If they're both on the lease, then they're both on the lease, regardless of their marital status."

The estranged couple will both be responsible for the rental lease, as noted by him. When it comes to other assets like cars and bank accounts, they need to figure out who gets what through a process called tracing.

The attorney clarified that in a family law case, a judge will need to figure out the origin of the funds. They will ask questions like: Is it money that belongs solely to me and would be mine in a divorce? Have I mixed it with joint funds? Or was it gifted to my spouse and now considered shared property?
