Taylor Swift fans are linking an old interview with the pop star to her song "The Prophecy" from her 11th studio album, The Tortured Poets Department.
In a 2012 interview, Katie Couric asked Swift, who is now 34 years old, "Finish this sentence if you could, 'In 10 years, I will be ...'" Swift responded, "32 and ... Wow, that's a tough question. It's like all my fears come out."
When Couric, who is 67 years old, questioned Swift about the meaning behind her statement, the singer explained that it was about feeling like she had lost everything - her friends, family, ending up alone, and crying.
Couric then encouraged Swift to look at things from a more positive perspective. Swift responded by saying that in 10 years, she hopes to either have a family or at least know when she wants to start one.
Swift expressed uncertainty about her career goals, stating, "I have no idea. I just really don’t want to do this after people get tired of me. I want to know when that line is."
A user on X advised others not to pay attention to any negative predictions after watching the video clip.
“It hurts so bad oh my god,” one fan commented on the post, while another added, “Oh this is breaking me.”

In the TTPD song “The Prophecy,” Swift sang about her hope to find love — and wondered if it’s her destiny to end up alone.
She sang in the chorus, "Please, I’ve been on my knees, Change the prophecy. Don’t want money, Just someone who wants my company. Let it once be me, Who do I have to speak to, About if they can redo the prophecy?"
While the majority of "The Taylor Swift Pop Debut" is seemingly about Swift’s romances with exes Joe Alwyn and Matty Healy, she also made sure to include a nod to her current boyfriend, Travis Kelce.
In her song "The Alchemy," Swift pays tribute to the Kansas City Chiefs tight end, 34, by incorporating football references into her lyrics.
She sings, "When I touchdown, call the amateurs and cut them from the team / Forget the clowns, claim the crown / Baby, I'm the one to beat." Swift continues, "Your heart still carries a sign that says it's reserved for me / Honestly, why should we resist the magic of our connection?"
In her song "So High School," Swift shared details about her relationship with Kelce that started in the summer of 2023. She compared falling for Kelce to the feeling of being 16 again.
Singing, "I’m watching American Pie with you on a Saturday night / Your friends are around so be quiet / I’m trying to stifle my sighs," she expressed how she felt like she was back in high school every time she looked at him.
Editor's P/S:
Taylor Swift's recent song "The Prophecy" has sparked speculation among fans that it may be linked to an old interview she gave in 2012. In the interview, Swift expressed fears about her future, including the possibility of losing everything and ending up alone. These concerns seem to echo the themes of "The Prophecy," in which Swift sings about her desire to find love and her uncertainty about whether it is her destiny to be alone.
The song's release has also prompted fans to revisit Swift's past relationships and speculate about who may have inspired the lyrics. Some fans believe that the song is about Swift's current boyfriend, Travis Kelce, while others believe that it may be about one of her exes, such as Joe Alwyn or Matty Healy. The song's lyrics, which include references to football and high school, suggest that it may be about Kelce, but Swift has not confirmed this.
