Ambyr Childers offered insight into her current dynamic with ex-husband Randall Emmett, acknowledging the challenges of coparenting.
The couple, who have two daughters named London (12) and Rylee (9), do not always share the same perspective on raising their children.
Childers acknowledged the varying approaches to parenting and acknowledged the challenges she has faced in co-parenting due to her troubled marriage. Despite the difficulties, she remains determined to persevere and prioritize the well-being of her children.
The former You actress stated that her children will always be her top priority. She believes that keeping this in mind makes co-parenting much simpler, regardless of whether she is in disagreement or agreement or fighting for something at any given moment.
Childers and Emmett got married in 2009 and had their first child, London, a year later. Rylee was born in 2013, and Emmett filed for legal separation in 2015. The couple's divorce was officially completed two years later.
Childers revealed that her current dynamic with Emmett solely revolves around discussing matters related to their children. This approach helps in ensuring accountability among all parties involved. However, there are challenging instances where their children pose difficult questions.
In those moments, Childers finds herself explaining to her kids that having two homes can sometimes be preferable to a single one. She acknowledges the emotional difficulty her children face at different stages of the divorce, as they come to her with inquiries or hear things. This aspect has proven to be the most challenging for her – striking a balance between safeguarding her children and teaching them about interpersonal relationships.
In December 2022, a Los Angeles County Superior Court judge issued a restraining order against Emmett, mandating that he stay 100 yards away from his ex-wife. The order allowed for minimal and peaceful communication only regarding their children. The order was granted due to concerns of child endangerment and pedophilia raised by Childers. Prior to the ruling, Childers reported feeling emotionally disturbed and violated after being interviewed by an FBI agent regarding suspicions of child exploitation and pedophilia involving Emmett. Emmett vehemently denied these accusations.
The order was dismissed in January. Childers had previously tried to get a restraining order against Emmett in October 2022, alleging that she had experienced emotional, verbal, and physical abuse throughout their marriage. She stated that she had a genuine fear for her safety and well-being, but the request was ultimately denied due to a lack of evidence.
Emmett later submitted his own court documents, claiming that Childers and his ex-fiancée, Lala Kent, were plotting against him in an effort to ruin his reputation and gain an advantage in custody. (Emmett also has a two-year-old daughter named Ocean with Kent, who is 32.)
Kent and Childers have developed a strong friendship despite their difficulties in the past. One significant moment was when Kent invited Childers to join her in celebrating Ocean's birthday in March. Speaking to the Daily Mail, Childers expressed how inspired she is by Kent and acknowledged that their relationship has faced challenges. Despite this, she noted Kent's qualities as a dedicated mother and a determined individual.
She added: “We’ve both been through a lot and at the end of the day we have beautiful, healthy children.”
