Sylvester Stallone was reportedly paid more than $3 million to star in Randall Emmett's film, Armored. However, Stallone was not informed that Emmett would also be directing the movie.
According to the Los Angeles Times, Stallone showed up on set without knowing that Emmett was not only producing but also directing the project. Despite this, some crew members mentioned that the assistant director and a producer stated that Stallone was not taken aback by Emmett's involvement in the film.
Several crew members revealed that Stallone was paid $3.5 million for just one day of work on Armored. The action thriller was filmed during the 2023 SAG-AFTRA strike with a waiver from the union.
During filming, one person who was present on set shared that when Stallone arrived, Randall, the director, asked the DP to join him in a conversation with Sly. Randall expressed his concerns to Stallone, saying, "Sly doesn't know that I'm directing this. I need you to support me in conveying that the film shoot is not going well, and I have to take control."
"Stallone pretty much ran the show for a day," said prop master Steve Noell in an interview with the LA Times.
The news of Stallone's significant payment comes at a time when there are allegations that Randall is not prompt in paying his bills or crew. According to the LA Times, crew members, vendors, and even sheriff's deputies who were hired for security purposes during the shoot have reported waiting for months to receive their payment.
However, some others have challenged these accusations made on the set of Armored. Line producer Josh Fruehling assured that the set was secure and all crew and vendors were compensated. First assistant director Gustavo Peña also mentioned that the filming proceeded smoothly without any issues.
Despite his successful career as a movie producer, Emmett may be more familiar to many as Lala Kent's former fiancé from Vanderpump Rules. Their separation was confirmed in November 2021, and they co-parent their two-year-old daughter, Ocean. Additionally, former Vanderpump Rules stars Brittany Cartwright and Jax Taylor claimed that Emmett owed Taylor over $70,000 following a business deal that did not succeed.
Emmett is currently working on a movie titled Cash Out, an action thriller about a bank heist gone sideways starring John Travolta, labeled as “a film by Ives.” Ives is the name Emmett has adopted since the Los Angeles Times published an expose in 2022 (followed by a Hulu documentary) about allegations of abuse and mistreatment of women, assistants, and business partners. Emmett has denied these claims.
Emmett's representative, Sallie Hofmeister, stated, "These allegations are false and part of a now-familiar smear campaign orchestrated by Randall’s ex-fiancée to sway their custody dispute," in a statement to We at the time.
According to the LA Times, Emmett's production company Emmett/Furla Oasis Films was in financial trouble. The company had accumulated more than $25 million in debt from lawsuits and outstanding loans and payments.
Editor's P/S:
This article highlights a concerning situation involving Sylvester Stallone's involvement in the film "Armored" and allegations of financial mismanagement by producer Randall Emmett. Stallone's reported payment of $3.5 million for a single day of work raises questions about the production's budget and the allocation of funds. Furthermore, the allegations of unpaid crew and vendors cast a shadow on Emmett's business practices and raise concerns about the well-being of those involved in his projects.
The article also sheds light on Emmett's personal life and ongoing legal issues. His separation from Lala Kent and the financial dispute with Jax Taylor paint a picture of instability and a lack of transparency in his financial dealings. Emmett's adoption of the alias "Ives" following allegations of abuse and mistreatment further complicates the situation and raises questions about his character and integrity. The financial troubles faced by Emmett/Furla Oasis Films suggest that the company may have been operating on shaky ground, potentially contributing to the alleged payment delays and other issues.
